Are Doujinshi’s allowed to be published on webcomic sites?

Doujinshi: Is the Japanese term for self-published print works, such as magazines, manga, and novels, but this term is widely used when talking about (drawn) fan fictions of characters as well.

I redrew a doujinshi that I made when I was younger and I’m really proud of it, but since it doesn’t involve any original characters is it okay to publish it on Tapas or Webtoon?

Fanworks are allowed on tapas, but not really encouraged and unlikely to be promoted. You also can't make profit of of them. In the worst case scenario you'll get a cease and desist and have to take it down or I bet the tapas team might take it down themselves, but I haven't really seen that happen personally.

However, if there's no mention of concepts of the original story (that not only includes characters, but locations, unique creatures and concepts as well) then I'm pretty sure it's fine to monetize. There's plenty of examples of popular works that started as fanfiction after all!

I believe Webtoons specifically doesn't allow fanworks, while Tapas is more okay with it.

That said, neither of these sites are that great for sharing fanwork, consider social media for that instead.

If they really did, I think all hell would break loose on there. There will be nothing but doujinshis.
