Are short slice-of-life comics popular any more?

Hi, so I recently started a webcomic, but have not really seen any engagement here on Tapas. My comic is pretty much your regular four panel slice-of-life comic with some light comedy thrown in (here it is if you want to take a look). I'm just doing this for fun, and my art isn't all that great as drawing is a new hobby for me.

It seems like most comics that are promoted on Tapas are long, beautifully drawn, and story-based. It also seems that a lot of comics similar to mine have concluded and/or got popular years ago. I don't particularly care if my comic gets popular or not since I'm really just doing it for myself, but I didn't realize it would hardly get any views at all

So, for my question - are short slice-of-life comics not as popular as they used to be on this platform? Or is my comic too new for users to regularly see? I guess my comic may just not be very good lol, and if that's the case, any suggestions are welcome.

short form gag-a-day comics are definitely still on the platform but from what i've gathered just kinda watching things numbers are better gained for those on sites like instagram

gag-a-day and slice of life had it's day maybe a few years ago but it's definitely not front page material in the way it used to be around like 2013-2015

This is basically what I was thinking, thanks! I do post on instagram and get better engagement there, but it also doesn't hurt to keep posting them here on Tapas too I guess

Comic companies exist to provide proof of concept for film, streaming, and tv companies in the hopes of a big pile of licensing cash. Tapas and Webtoon are no different from Marvel and DC in this matter. So they're more likely to push "Like K-drama" than "Like K-On"

Gag a day comics have mostly become more popular on social media now, where the short format and easy sharing makes them suited to a twitter or instagram feed. Plus a lot of gag comics don't need to all be read in a linear order, so people can just see one on social media and engage without needing to commit to following every single update.
People tend to read longer-form content on apps like Tapas because it's easy to binge read a longer form story and pick up exactly where they left off in a linear serial story, but harder to share funny or relatable pages and more of a pain to keep up with daily updates (or more than a couple a week).

Try posting your stuff on twitter and instagram, or even Reddit and think of Tapas more as a sort of archive. It might be a bit more effective.

Yeah I have a short slice-of-life comic too. I have noticed engagement has dropped a lot during the years. They are not so popular anymore on Tapas. However, I prefer to read short slice-of-life comics on Tapas so I look for them from time to time. I also subscribed to your comic.

I'm pretty sure you can promote this on certain subreddits like r/comics.
it's not my area but I think the kind of comics I've seen there are very similar to yours.

Tapas has some non-mainstream friendly aspects like the community section and the lower subscriber requirement for ad revenue. One thing they could improve on is advertising that shows that the platform hosts more than just kdrama style comics.
