One thing I may add, is that some characters are based off my friends, but are not exactly friends of the MC, at least not during the first arcs.
This because I wanted them to be their own characters with their own arcs rather than the "cool friends of the MC" because I don't think I could handle that well if implemented on the beginning.

Mostly not, of course personalities from memorable people in my life could have slipped into some characters but none of them are based on any humans irl.

The exception of course (that's why I said humans) is that the catman Sphynx does have a resemblance to my cat haha. But there are still quite a few differences.

There is a character who used to be a self-insert when he began, but as I became a better a writer and his role slimmed down, he became something entirely new. Nevertheless, he be ma' bebe. He appears in Episode 9 of the story, but he becomes a huge character later on. I'm so excited when people will see what he's all about.

Not at all, no one from my main series (6,75) is based on me nor people I know.
That being said, I used to have a self-insert character, just in a different, older story
Also, my other series, Trust Me I'm a Chemist (currently on a hiatus) is basically stuff that happened in my life so I am there, though I'm not sure if it counts as a self-insert.

All the characters are different (not great) facets of myself, but some of them have little traits that are lifted directly from me:
Agony is on the aromantic spectrum like me
Thesis's nervous stammering is like mine
Duenna is a nerd for Musicals,
Motif talks like me on a sugar high
Sequel likes a lot of the same movies I do.

They also all have music tastes selected from different kinds of things I like.

I have some characters that represent parts of me. This is sort of why several of my characters have anxiety. But I never made a character who is just a self-insert.

In my current long comic https://tapas.io/series/trust/info main character Aster is like 95% me, because I wanted to think about some of my issues via creating a story, but in my other stories I usually distribute my personality between different characters and mix that with other characteristics to make them whole

I add traits from myself on to them. I just think it makes them a lil bit more relatable. No character is just like me. My closest one is Natalie. I made the comic entirely off of a notion of showing how I got over my hard ships as a kid, so I put a lot of things from myself in Natalie's story.

The characters of the story I´m working on are not self inserted,
it´s like playing the Sims, I don´t play myself in the Sims, I´m a single rock´n´roll musician in real life,
in the Sims I play a family with kids and dogs, normal jobs, conservative.
I always enjoyed creating something that has nothing to do with my real world.

I dig cartoons like Charlie Brown which is 100% self inserted and I think that´s a good way
to make a successful comic but that was never an option for me

The only self-insert I can tell, is My MC's Father, who, if we remove the glasses, and make the hairs brown (As well the eyes), is basically (Not helping that the mother is my favorite OC and so, I can feel guilty to unconsciously self-inserting as married to her, eh eh... Weird...)

it's not intentional but My boyfriend and my best friend have said the main character is just a guy version of me.

considering it's a vent story it makes sense. Most of the events in the story are heavily based on things that have happened in my life, although some details may be changed or heavily dramatized for storytelling's sake.

It's only natural to pour ourselves into our worlds and characters, what matters is to not make the MC live our personal power fantasy if it doesn't help the plot advance or improve.I also recommend making characters you actually hate not because of their actions, but because of their "base". That will help you differentiate between "I don't like it but it's for the plot" and "I will just magically change it" and decide when to choose any of either paths.

I mean, kinda yes kinda no. I try to base my character's flaws on problems I notice within myself or in my own past behavior, so I would understand best how those flaws would affect them. Because, thematically, I want my stories to be something that can speak to myself personally- so it's all about problems I deal with just verrrrryyyy coated in metaphor.

So tl;dr all of my characters are more or less based on myself- just very exaggerated versions of me.
