I’m another creator going solo, but having any interested readers to bounce ideas off with helped a lot with the worldbuilding and lore of my story!

My husband beta reads my pages. He's not an artist at all so getting his opinion is actually really useful because he often sees things I don't, in a way that I think corresponds to the opinions of an "average reader". Otherwise, I'm basically by myself. :x

The more I draw though, the more I really feel like having a partner, haha... It would be nice to have another brain do plotting stuff, and of course the art would take less time between two people. I would never want to do a "defined role" partnership though... I'd want to work with someone who's like me, who can do all aspects of the comic and we just alternate who's the "project lead" by chapter. Of course the big caveat here is you need to find someone who thinks similar to you, and who has similar goals, otherwise you're gonna have tensions rising up pretty quickly, if one person wants the story to go one way, and the other doesn't agree... Or if one person wants to devote all waking time to working and the other just wants to work a couple hours a week.

My husband is the creator/main writer for my secondary MC, Koreal, and I often run story plots involving Koreal past him to make sure I'm not writing the character saying or doing something he wouldn't... but other than that, it's all me. I do everything from plotting, to script writing, to character and set design, to thumbnailing, drawing pages in traditional media with pencils, inks, and coloring with markers, clean up, scanning, photoshop editing, lettering, formatting, posting, and social media.

... no wonder I'm tired. O_o

I work on all the art, writing and 3D modelling for my comic myself. I like being able to make all the decisions for my comic because I have a very specific vision for it. If I had the money, I might hire a 3D modeller because making my own models is extremely time consuming, but for the art and writing I wouldn't want anyone but me working on it.

I'd love to one day be able to hire art assistance, mainly for base colouring because it's such a drag to get through sometimes. I do have friends read through and critique my work though, I find it to be helpful to get a reader's perspective on my comic.

but seriously im kinda ok with making my comic alone cuz theres no pressure, no idea clashes, i have freedom to make
whatever i want and if anything goes wrong i can only blame myself for not doing better. plus it makes me proud to complete everything on my own

the downside is i have no feedback, outside input for better assessment of my work. drawing, writing, quality assurance and finalization done by one dude takes more time so i cant upload frequently, sometimes i dont upload for months.

I work totally solo, but I know it is industry standard to work on teams. That may be changing a little as creator owned projects become more and more popular, but yeah, I do it all! Whether you can or not just depends on your skills, areas of interest and time. I am interested in art and in writing and could not see anyone else doing it for my story at the moment. At most, I could see someone else coloring it.
I've had a cowriter in the past and have worked with other writers to edit my other projects.

I can't speak to how doing comics full time on a team is though. I have collaborated with others in tiny one or two day projects but nothing bigger. It was really fun, though those where just assignments, not anything super personal to us as creators.

What I can say from my time trying to do audio fiction is that working on a team isn't always easy, in terms of scheduling. I think we as artists struggle with deadlines for the most part, soooo....

Yes I am mostly in terms of drawing and writing it. I have my sibling proof read the script and my college friend edit the script and pages to ensure quality. I also show it a few friends as a test.

I am the SAME way about this completely! And to be honest I don't even need any assistants [not saying that to be mean] but I say that because I am able to get it done all by myself, which in my opinion is a lot easier to tell a story on a very epic and grand scale! And more importantly to the last thing you said, I go MAD everytime I create! But that's just my style XD so it sounds like we have kind of a lot in common as artists!

as much as I don't want to compromise my vision, I do think having an editor or atleast a critique buddy would be helpful

I´m working alone but not by choice,
I would prefer to focus on just one part of a project.

I would love to find a way how we can regularly create something as a group in the tapas forum.
Something like a weekly on page script and then everyone uploads their page.
It kinda worked with the comic jam which I started a while ago and it was a lot of fun

What did you like and dislike with working by yourself vs in a group? Are there any pros and cons? OsO
