Art Hangouts! Where are you based?

Since art can be a lonely activity I've sometimes gone to sketchmeetings or online hangouts when I'm drawing.

For concept artist/illustrators there are already a bunch of them around (although you have to know where to find them) but I was wondering if you guys also have a common spot to gather.
The forums seem very lively and it looks like a lot of you guys do more on tapastic than just post and run

Anyway I'm pretty new here so just wondering if people are interested in this kinda thing?
(I have no idea how hangouts works now, but it seems updated)

Also where is everyone from? (only disclose if you want to of course haha)

I actually met most of mine IRL at draw meets, then secondly through Deviantart and Skype groups.

I really enjoy art hangouts via google hangouts, working alone all day can get really lonely ><

Though I don't know of any tapastic themed ones. Most of the times it random invites from other art or gaming friends I know. I'm surprised there's not a Tapastic one already I know hangouts were originally not permanent, but I believe now they can be (even though I used them a lot I don't often look into them past that), perhaps we should work on setting something like that up.

yeah something like that, or there's some open ones, but its kind of awkward in there because a lot of people just don't interact or everyone knows eachother already .__.

I do feel like it would be cool to have a tapastic one

ah yeah :> but you first need to have some drawing meets then ^^ I think in my country it is quite limited? So I mostly just find people through the internet and then meet them offline haha~

I co-run a meetup here in the SF bay area called Drawing Meats. It's not all comics, but a few of us have webcomickers in the group including me. It's mostly to hang out, geek out, and draw (and do group drawing activities).

Oh yes I have also done Iscribble before! there's some really cool people on there, and also people who draw really well
I just find it really limiting in the tools you can use .3. (I am spoiled with my photoshop brushes now) ^^ So that's why I prefer things like hangouts. But its definitely more fun to collab on iscribble!

I live in the nyc area so I guess that's a good place to meet people if it's a meet up. I use skype for most contacts but I don't really give it out to anyone easily unless I know them. I'm kinda cloistered here, I should talk with people more but eh, I haven't made the effort yet since I suck at figuring out how to be technology savvy and keeping up with it. I'm suppose to be updating my linkedin and using it for jobs and I just ignore it haha...

Yeah uh I don't know if you've been there recently but they've introduced different brushes now. But yeah photoshop is way better.
It's fun to collab and it's good for practise too, people can just help you with stuff right there. And it's full of pros lol

And it's good to get free art... hehhe

PFF true with the technology bit, but also mostly all the social media. I just don't know how to keep up anymore Pfff x.x too many accounts and all.of them are dead.

Hmm I get that you don't want to share info too openly especially not somewhere everyone can see hah ^^ maybe if there is something more tangible like an actual group formed that we can send Pms about skypenames but right now there's nothing just yet .u.

But yeah NYC sounds like a great place to have meets! c: get outta the house! Haha
