Art tutorials (original + stumbled upon)

Hi! originally, i was thinking about making a topic about creators own tutorials and art tips, but later i thought that non-artists or begginers would like to share their favorite/most useful tutorials form the web, or well, ask for a specific kind of help, we may have it here.

For starters, i'll share with you one of my own, in case anyone of you is struggling with varying your characters faces, well, you could always try this, i love doing this stuff in all my sketchpads.

^ Good advice on drawing random shapes. That's pretty much what I do in my sketchbook, too. It's actually a pretty fun warm up and it's easy to come up with a variety of faces that way.

I have a crapload of tutorials that I've saved from all over the internet and I can't really say I have a favorite one.

But I do like this one because it gives tips on "cartoonize-ing" real faces (plus points out the fact that there are different ways to interpret the same face!).

That's some advice I'm going to take to heart. Although I'm better at not making the same faces now. It used to be really bad back in middle school. It used to get pointed out about my art back then a lot. Though that was, what, 12 years ago? Still, it's advice I'll take especially when it comes to going back to fundamentals and draw shapes. Pretty creative stuff you came up with those shapes.

raintowns: I think sooner or later we all make "that" folder/bookmark where we all hoard those useful tutorials and we can never decide on a favorite or most seen one lol. that Vincent Price one is extremely useful.

fighterxaos: Thanks a lot !if you want to take that kind of exercises furtherly, search for LuigiL en deviantart, last time i checked he still made this kind of exercises with open invitations to other persons to upload original characters based on one common shape sheet.

a couple years ago i made a little summer class with kids and what i did was to make them draw shapes on a round table and then give them to their partners so everyone drew characters on shapes that weren't theirs (the point is, get creative with the resources you've got!)

and Creaux: wow! i saw the very first set of images when i was looking for info to use google sketchup (wich gives me the idea to look for something along these lines for later) glad you could direct me to the author of that so i can finally can follow his work.

Palmie. It's in Japanese, but it's got great tutorials.

They have quite a few tutorials on backgrounds, so that might be helpful bc I know that's a big problem for a lot of people.
