Backgrounds! You hate them but when you've successfully done them, you'll love the result because they're exceptionally difficult to draw. So instead of complaining about them, why don't we show them off? Please show your proudest outputs and then share your tricks/ hacks on how to make them faster.
Alright, I'll start:
Usually I'll just make one establishing shot of a scene and then the succeeding panels's backgrounds are just filled with gradients, that way I only make 1 background each scene. Lazy, I know. But I finish things faster.
I know there's sketchup models but if I'm only going to use an environment once, drawing them by hand is easier than making models. I usually save models for repeated environments. My problem with backgrounds mostly come from taking too long to imagine/ design them, which I still don't know how to fix. Maybe I'll just get faster as I get better
and I have a separate file that contains drawn stock background foilage and entourage that I just reuse and copy and paste on finished panels.
I'd also like to share this link of a background tutorial by Fox_orian:
I found it yeaaaaars ago but I still find it the most helpful.
