Unlike twitter and other places that really foster a spirit of negative competition (like that one art twitter fight a week ago that was a real big Yikes over follower counts--dunno if any of you followed that mess but Wow) this forum is pretty friendly and open. You get all sorts on here, and without a lot of judgement because we don't...really compare our day jobs, youknow? Not that this forum is perfect at doing that, but in comparison to everywhere else? It does pretty good.
I truly do love how unabashed everyone is about their experiments and their learning and their process vs every where else on the internet where there is an astounding amount of pressure to display the most perfect art all the time. It is a breath of fresh air to see on this forum actual and real comic development--which is generally incomplete and sketchy and awkwardly worded until the last draft. At least that's what my drafts look like all the time.
We're all learning. I've been drawing like 10+ years and I'm still absolutely learning how to make a comic. Part of the reason I'm here is because what I learned back in the day is now super dated for modern comic readers. But, I think if people just saw my finished art they'd think "ah, she has no problems" no man, I struggle with drawing all the time, even still. You just kinda keep hope that by the final draft it'll work out.
