I wanna make an awesome note about Comicfury---
The fanbase there is obviously smaller than Tap, Web, and Smack. BUT. Smaller community means your comic is boosted on their front page longer when you update, and you will see activity. It was the first comic site I ever hosted on back when I had a prior concept for something as an experiment, and it went over pretty nicely, tbh. I mean, it's not the level HERE is, but it's a closer knit community so they're more likely to talk to you.
Another bonus - if you go to make your own website there:
-- You can build your site from absolute scratch, or use their basics n swap out the graphics.
-- Their web address doesn't HAVE to have "comicfury" in it somewhere! You can tick that off n no one would even know your URL is from Fury AT ALL. (Anyone remember that one site in the 90s you could use n it was a dead giveaway you were using it cuz it had to show up in everyone's URL? LOL)
-- They allow NSFW stuff as long as you tag it, so if you have questionable pages with content that may bother someone, you can still host it there no problem.
-- Their webcomic uploader is really complex and has a TON of features, including the option to have CHAPTERS for your webcomic separated into their own thumbs kind of like "Looking For Group" does! Yay!
-- If you start your own site, you're completely safe to get ads put on it for yourself. This may have changed tho, so don't quote me on that. That's how it was when I was there but that was a few years ago now. They don't take any profit, I believe, it's all yours so far as I know, and they have 0 qualms with that.
So to sum up, FOR FREE, you can have a site that masks its hosted by them entirely, n you can have ads n gain money through them without them taking a cut at all, and their webdesigner is SUPER complex and flexible, like for real. The only weakness is the base there is a little smaller n I have no idea why.
Frankly I'd be there n have a home-base site, if only they had an ad revenue program like Tap, or a tip system like Steemit does. I'm not into buying ad packages, but that's just me, so if it sounds like its up your alley, go for it. I fully endorse those bros.
