Best of Tapastic compilation book?

Someone mentioned on the Tapastic FB group that it would be interesting if some artists collaborated on a book together. What if, though, a group of people (I don't know who would be best for the job - maybe we could get some help from Tapastic staff?) put together a Best of Tapastic Comics book? I'm just shooting out some ideas here, but maybe it could contain

• Some of the best/most popular comics on Tapastic
• Some never-before-seen comics/artwork from some of Tapastic's most popular artists
• Blurbs about some of our favorite artists and comics
• Some collaborative artwork or comics (i.e. two or more Tapastic artists working together on pieces)

And who knows what else! If you have ideas or input, please share here. I don't know how realistic it is, but hey, nothing ventured, nothing gained!

I think it'll be cool to have and maybe sell on Lulu.com instead of making prints.
Let the customer buy their own print.

But we need some support on it first!!

But I think it's going to take a lot of administrative work to put together. I'm friends with the guys that put together Black Torch (an absolutely beautiful anthology) and just hearing about all the work put into it is sort of mind numbing.

However, if you're really interested in doing this, I'll be more than happy to assist you in any way possible.

On the bright side if we curate the best of Tapastic, well most of the content is already made and we just need to get permission from the authors. But then again, I think curating is slightly difficult, like picking and choosing what gets in and what doesn't.

Right. It would be quite a process, I'm sure, but it's still a neat idea. It might be best to let it stew for a while.

I like this idea. As a creator, I welcome any opportunities to bring my work to a wider audience.

Obviously it's more work for the Tapastic staff, but if such anthologies become successful, it can only encourage more and more creators to post their work on this site.

If we were to do the book. Of course we had to have some the more popular creators contribute since they have the most supporters they can also help spread the word about it.

It would be a 41 pg book-20 artist. 2 arts each- 1 comic and 1 illustration (both never before seen-SUPER EXCLUSIVE). But the last page would be a collaboration between all 20 (idk how that would work but it is possible)!!

I dont think it'd be hard to pick out the best of the best since it's already categorized on the website?
And i think making comic artists work together would be great for the community

That's brilliant...
I'm guessing this will be mainly based on the top most subscribed (or liked) creators. Although HJ story already HAS several books they could still be mentioned (the prologue or something...). It would be at the most 50 pages long due to the sheer amount of content to choose from, One page could hold one or more comics, while the opposite page includes a short bio about the artist (along with either the profile picture or a self portrait by the creator...)
And then you could have 5 extra pages for minor comics that deserved a place in the book (with some text at the bottom saying who drew + their Tapastic account...)
And the cover would most likely be a giant collaboration between the top 5 plus several smaller ones drawn with the tapastic logo up in front.
Or, you know... other things... I don't know...

I really love this idea and I would be also interested to work on this project.
I'm just asking myself how it could be financed... crowd funding?

well, maybe not, there's a site called lulu that allows people to self publish books for free, I mean they get some of the prophet, but that's to be expected. I've used it before and it's pretty easy. Either that or kickstarter, which is how nJoo published his HJ story books. I guess there are other methods, but these seem like the best options...
