From what I looked at, they don't appear to be scammers. On pure assumption of good faith, they like comics and want to make their own platform that thinks of the creators (sadly, these tend to be doomed to failure for numerous reasons).
There's a level of unprofessionalism but not in a bad way, it's two guys working their own company (web hosting? nani)
From what I have seen, they had a period of inactivity (was too lazy to check their timeline), they post their stuff on Twitter and Insta and their FB group, linking to same comics over and over since they have a limited selection.
- They don't seem to have background in social media marketing
- Programming background is unknown as they could have easily hired someone
- They're using Wordpress.
- They definitely did not hire a lawyer nor have legal background.
(Now, I'm not trying to be overly dissing or critical, this is just observation. The privacy policy looks like they googled it then plug and chug. Any lawyers or 1L kids out there wanna have a go at it, do let us know)
I got kinda lazy reading it afterawhile but I think they failed to include Limited Liability and maybe some other stuff. I'm no expert like all those redditors out there, so I don't know better.
Design wise, the type hierarchy is kinda irritating because looks like they just typed out all their info like how I'm doing now. There's more elements you need to consider to make it easier on the eyes, to guide the eyes to important info because people are lazy, etc. I won't go into some other stuff
For reading their comics or books, they have two different formats. The one for webcomics has the interface on the same page and you click arrows on the left and right (like fricken old smackjeeves). It's pretty terrible.
The other format which most books had, was more like an interactive book. You could zoom in, out, spin it around, turn on its side, get a clicking sound when you turn the page, bunch of unnecessary features but still kinda nice. Both are clunky and sluggish (unless that's my internet which I'm doubtful)
Overall, it's up to you if you want to try them. I think they may be a little ahead of themselves but they can certainly make improvements. It requires a lot of commitment.
I do think they are being genuine but may be ignorant to some things (may be comic writing, writing, media marketing, etc) which could hurt their project.
What really put me off was the policy man. I've no interest in law but I know a few things and that just made me feel like I need to call Saul to tell me the implications in the ambiguity or inconsistent word choice . I'm more worried about my content. Otherwise, I'd be happy to upload stuff and help a genuine team grow. But it feels like backing a Kickstarter so I pass for the time being. Will be watching if they grow though.
EDIT: They do however link their site all over the place which does violate Community Guidelines. Another flag that they aren't very thorough.
