Hello fellow writers.

I have recently been contacted by a person that claimed to be an editor and publisher. He said that he was interested in my work and would like to publish it on my website, sign a contract even.

At first, I was very happy, but after doing some digging, I found out that this was quite possibly a scam. I contacted Team Tapas and they said that it might very well be a scam and banned the person from their platform.

I found a Reddit post, where many people shared their experiences with said "publishing company". Some people signed a contract, where they forfeited all the rights to their own novels to the company for a measly sum of $50.

The company that this man claimed to belong to is called Ringdom. But they also go by names such as: STARY, Dreame, FicFun.

I would just like to make sure that every author here knows that this is quite possibly a scam (I can't be and am not completely sure it is a scam, but I definitely wouldn't sign any contract with them).

If you have any experience with them, please share them here so that we can prevent other authors from making a mistake that might cost them their work.

Thank you and I wish everyone all the best.

My pleasure!

And yes, it is. From what I've seen, they've been active mainly on Wattpad, but it seems they're expanding to other sites as well.

They also go by the name FicFun. And yeah, it's a right grabs scam. They basically expect you to sign away the lifetime rights of your work for pennies.

Thank you for the input! I'll add the name in the original post.

I checked their website and it looks fine at first glance but no books are clickable. It's just a bunch of images... horrible.

It's annoying when the only messages I get are from scammers...Really brings your confidence down...

Yeah, I can imagine how that's upsetting, But just be persistent and you'll be getting messages from real fans and hopefully even publishers

Glad to hear that! I'm always happy to help and if just saying a few words is enough than I'm more than happy to do it again!

I wish you all the best in your endeavors!

Well now, we got a live one he-aaahhh! A NOOO SCAMMAAAAAH, Oh Deaaaah!

Check this one's comments list.

Just got another long winded invite to publish from -

Scammer????

As a general rule, publishers don`t reach you. You gotta pitch to them. Anyway, always dig and do a background check on any publishing company you aim for.

@CarltonIsaac "they have the word Rogue XD "

serious answer....not sure, dont know them. Is always good idea to check their background.

The site looks legit, albeit a small one, probably trying to grow, but you never know what lurks behind that mask.

Reminds me of the time, back in the early 2000s, when I was on fictionpress, wattpad was starting out and sending these kinda spam to everyone.

What's the money like though?

Yes, my stories are my babies. But I could stand to sell some of my babies.

Yeah I got one of these today and it's like yo are you only offering me 50$ ? Like .... seriously do you know how money works? a measley 50$ for my book that took years to write, hot damn, what noise.

They didn't define the arrangement for ongoing chapters very well, mostly because they wanted you to drop them the whole manuscript at once, so I'm not sure if they were planning to release it chapter by chapter or what. Like, they didn't read my story so they clearly didn't see I have an unfinished book on Tapas.

but their headliner was like "You get 50$!" and it's like wow! a whole 50$???
