Hello!, I think I already saw a topic regarding BL and Lgbtq,
I am a BL author and most of my comic are light hearted and does not contain sexual content or (making out something like that).
I am gay but I haven't come out yet, to be honest I'm afraid, the reason why I don't.
although my comic doesn't portray that much of Lgbtq experience, , it's more on romance because I want to focus on romance..
does it make me that I fetish the genre (BL).?? sorry I am really not sure about it, I just want a honest advice and opinion.
I just started writing a year ago and I don't want to hurt people on my writing.
I want to know how extent does the genre become "fetishy?"
English is not my first language and I'm still confused about it .
Thank you hope I get some of your advice.

Please, don't worry about people screaming about fetishization, more than half the time they don't even know what the word means.
Actual fetishization would be if you'd be coming to random gay people asking them who's uke/seme/top/bottom or being straight up homophobic to them while enjoying bl works.

@Animefanka ahh thank you!, because I thought I fetish my own comic since I make a romance between two guys but all I wanted was a fluffy story to make..

I think I misunderstood the real meaning of fetish, thank you, I've been really thinking about this for so long and mostly I get it from the comment section and It confuses me

When they speak about fetishization, they mostly mean those "gay" remarks. "I came at the speed of gay", "oh, my sweet gay bois!", "let the gay show" and such. Those people are called out because they concentrate only on the gay part. Story or characters don't seem to matter to them and basically, they dehumanize the characters which obviously isn't okay.

Dehumanization often happens in fetishes. They only see them as tool to... you know.
In other words: No worries. You're good

if you are gay yourself you can write whatever you want about it. Don't worry and I hope you have the chance to come out soon. if u need something you can also send me a DM

@samiluu thank you so much! yes it was really hard for me to come out, my family are homophobe they might not accept me, thank you so much !

Is has to be really hard to have an homophobic family... I send you a hug

what up, i'm gay and i'm your family now. write what makes you happy, post it if you want to, and maybe it'll make other people happy too.

writing is an entirely selfish pastime, so don't ever feel bad for doing it selfishly <3

Well, you are gay and I'm gay too, I write the story that I want to show and if I want to show my fantasies about my life's experiences that never happened, I have the right to do it as I always wanted to.

The thing about fujoshis and fetishization is that their lack of understanding about the lifestyle of gay men, they usually sees us as cute puppies who have sex (that's the conclusion that most people get about the situation) they see a straight couple disguised as two guys, that's why is more common the role of Uke and Seme, being one the bottom and most of the time feminine and tsundere and the other one being the top, which is more masculine, lack of emotions, is manipulative or possessive and in some cases forces himself sexually in the Uke.
I hope you understand the difference .

You just do what you want to do, do you have a fantasy romantic story about your crush? Do it! Do you want to explore your own sexual fetish? Well, you can do that but you have to keep it family-friendly or post the censored parts on your website.
