Webtoon what is the future going to be like over on Webtoons platform?

I have been on Webtoons for a while not much growth. Are they becoming studio based only for readers to pay and read. And for the Webtoon comics are they only going to create in house comics by the Webtoon team in the future? They don't really seem to have a community for indi comic creators, from what I'm seeing WT may not be creating a forum or anything for indi comic creators. I'm courious to see how other webtoon creators on here see how Webtoons furture may look.

Webtoon, Tapas, and Lehzin exist as IP mills for Korean Netflix. If you're not producing comics with that aim in mind expect nothing from them as a creator.

Webtoons sucks.

1) terrible censorship
2) no notification when someone comments on your work
3) no forums. All on reddit and discord but community too focused on their premium comics anyway

The no notification thing drove me nuts as well.

The comment bot censoring comments sent me in a blind rage when I was speed reading stuff.

They used to be pretty cool between 2017-2020.

But once they had their big boom in popularity, and a lot of younger readers suddenly joining things went down hill fast.

It no longer feels like a place for creatives to show their work or interact with others. And it's VERY easy to get buried now unless you are writing in a niche genre.

Post there if you want, but just know if you don't get a ton of people within the first 10 updates it's probably going to be slow going.

i literally got an ad from tapas in my email begging me to to read the premium stuff by giving me ink so if the premium stuff is suffering the community stuff is so screwed...

Me, I consider Tapas to be my “home” of sorts, but I also use Webtoon and NamiComi. I lost hope in Webtoon since I have more results on Tapas and NamiComi.

Every webcomic site only cares about those who make 'em cash money.
Webtoon, community wise, definitely sucks more, and there is a lot of censorship, but Webtoon will trudge on. It's a popular site. And, tragically, I find it way easier to get my comics to grow there than on here so I can see why people will keep going there. My trash won't get even 20 subs here, but reaching 1000+ there was easy enough for 3 different series.

Point is, they all suck but I don't have enough of a following to justify setting up my own site for my work so it is what it is and I try not to get too pressed about it.

it's pretty scary were the whole industry heading towards i can't believe we reached the point where people would pay you to engage with their content that's INSANE is the market so inflated to the point know body is curious anymore

Webtoons new policy is getting really scary and concerning. I'm feeling more and more hesitant on posting there. I could be wrong but to me it seems as an indi comic creator Webtoons is pulling away from indi publishing and gearing towards there own studio team and professional company based comics in the near future. Sounds scary that they can take down indi comics at any time when they want to for there reason without notifying creators. Sounds scary to me. I still may post for some time depending on there new changes in the future. Anyone else feeling the same way?

I pulled out of tapas a couple of weeks ago, I feel like my comics are being treated as very undervalued here and it seems like tapas has created this system where you have no choice but to do a subforsub just to rise up on their ranks in the community section, i refuse to post anything on a website that's blatantly blocking traffic because i need to follow THEIR weird rules screw that! so in the end i decided to make my own website it may be small but at least i get the privileges of having my own site

I am actually very discourage by Tapas approach to community. I didn't find even 1 premium comic or story I would like. The real gems are hidden under premium stuff (very often... meh).

But I knew it will be like here. I don't even try to enter other sites, because I am a) tired b) they are similar to Tapas.
