Don’t know about comics, but a lot of novels on the Internet are a polished quality. The problem though is that ‘book-like’ quality is often a detriment to the writer in terms of audience capture. It’s a complex issue.
I guess, my biggest take out is that even on Tapas, social media is the king. However, I like my current level of views, even if it doesn’t amount to Tapas popularity goals if it continues in this vein (I.e. reaching 100 and 250 subscribers).
So, one of the problems I face is that trying to make Instagram moodboards for that Story thing you are supposed to pin somehow, with quotes will take a lot of my time doing work I don’t enjoy, and will result in nothing, because I just can’t get viewers on Instagram, and the quality of my graphics will be bad.
Plus, selecting and editing the snappy short quotes that go well on those graphics and doing double graphics for Twitter and Instagram (they are different size)...
Like, that’s a big, big time commitment to produce even one extra graphic per week for Instagram in addition to writing, editing and posting. Here, where a novel writer faces a time crunch, because we normally do not do graphics, just write text.
