Based on the type of series basic gag types (short) vs deep immersive ongoing plot (longer), and target demographic and personal time you have for series creation.
Yep me too also enjoy getting to read more content
Mines on the immersive ongoing plot-side so most of my episodes usually end up long. The aim was to make it feel like a 45 minute TV series, so an 'actual episode' can usually run between 6-10 'Tapas episodes'. I'm just one guy so episodes with detailed environments, effects and fight scenes usually span across more 'Tapas episodes' and can end up shorter in length (just to keep the series active). I usually determine the cut off point for a Tapas Episode by ending it at a cliffhanger.
Incase worried about length for 1st chapter, maybe once you have enough to quickly set the tone about the series for readers, other "less important things to the first scene" can be hinted in background maybe but you can always consider exploring those further in the series when they truly serve importance to plot (just to avoid things getting info-dumpy).
If RL demands more from you, it might be safer to do shorter episodes that are a portion of an actual bigger episode.
Wishing you success on your writing journey!
Currently working on a comic series that 1st started as an action horror videogame idea
It follows two young brothers who are carriers of a virus, and anyone they infect will instantly turn into monsters. The brothers condition also grants them the ability to manipulate states of matter (liquid, solid, gas, plasma etc) and a fighting chance against all odds. The brothers' kinship is tested as other carriers emerge, some are opportunists who've spun the situation into a grisly game!
