When I was in high school, there was this popular webcomic called MegaTokyo. I will say it’s definitely of a different era. I remember enjoying how it started out but it got really frustrating and annoying over time. It sort of wanted to be an otaku version of Penny Arcade, tho that series hasn’t aged well.
I remember liking Romantically Apocalyptic back in the day.
As for old BL. Uh, I am going to be honest. Back when I was on Smackjeeves, I tried to read some of them and most ranged from not good to just bland & forgettable. The genre was also very dominated by fujoshi writers and readers. Which is probably why I didn’t like them.
I have a series from 2012 which was originally posted to SJ. It is old so it’s sort of janky.
As for Webtoons, originally you could not upload a series unless you were partnered with the site. This rule changed around 2014 after they held a contest. The entries were submitted to canvas and after the contest, they made it a permanent feature.
