I write novels, not a comic maker, but color palates, schemes and color theory still is very, very important in novel story telling. Describing a scene without mentioning any colors makes it seem less real and more bland: like a world of gray-scale there's no contrast, value or weight to the imagery.
A knight in armor and cape with a sword described just as that is rather boring and flat, but describe the knight in a suit of bright gold, a cape of cobalt and a sword of pure snow white brings forth a different image and different references you can pick up in the way the colors as described. Saying someone cast a spell, just by saying what the spell did is boring and makes the magic feel very abrupt like flicking a switch, but describing the color of the spell can tell more than anything about the nature of the spell, the nature of the caster and the nature of the spell's effect before it takes root. A spell that's green is seen as different from one that is red or blue or white or black.
I like using this website, you can pick a color you like and select what kind of color you want to go with it across board of formats and harmonies.
