Can you turn a novel into a comic?

As the thread says what are your thoughts. Do you think novels can be turned into comics or should they remain as novels?

I do think novels can be turned into comics, its only a matter of how you transfer it over, you can use advantages of the visual medium to really give life to the paragraphs in a novel, hell some novels would work better as comics

The answer is yes. I think that as long as it has a good flow as it does in the novel, you can always translate a novel into a visual medium like comics.

Yes, I already do this! My series is written as novels--in chapters--first, then illustrated into comic pages.

Absolutely. And vice versa.

I'm in the process of turning the prologue of my novel into a comic (hence why I removed the prologue from my novel XD) so I can expand more on it visually. But I've also turned one of my old comics back into a mini-novel, and I had so much fun writing out the scenes a tad bit longer and more detailed.

Yes. And I think the best way to approach it is to not think of the novel as a "script" but to think of the comic as an "adaption" much in the way that film adapts prose. Making whatever tweaks necessary to make it work in the new format.

of course you can! However, since novel is a bit more detailed than comic script (since you draw things instead of explaining them) see it as a inspiration/ original material rather than just to copy every single detail.

well I have turned a novel to a comic and tbh I get more veiws and followers for my comic ver than for the novel ver

Yes. i have seen some author turn their novel into comic. And i am planning on turning my online novel into a comic but im waiting till the right time at the novel where people can binge read it and then post it.

The story I'm writing right now was once a book. I did it about 10+ years ago. It was horribly written thought, so I abandoned it, and when I started writing stories in comic format, I starting thinking about it again and decided to give it another go. It's so much better than it could've been way back when. I yearn to produce it on Tapas!
