Alicia "can cook" in the sense that she can make food to keep herself from starving without burning the house down. It's not particularly well seasoned most of the time, but it's not bad, just kind of mid. She can however bake, and her baked goods are good in a simple way.

Kattar can cook again, enough to not die, but doesn't have ANYTHING he's particularly good at, unlike Alicia. He also usually doesn't have much of an appetite, and will be okay with simple things like crackers and cheese, sandwiches, or pasta with simple pesto, salads and stuff like that. He's the sort of person who rarely eats heavy meals.

Yes, there's always one in each couple who can cook really well. This way, there's lots of yummy food and cooking descriptions. It's what my books are known for. In French Cup, we get a lot of descriptions and baking play by plays from Kazuya, who is a patissier. However, the opposite is cute, too. The ones who can't cook do adorably try. For example, in Lyra's Magnum Opus, Tetsu tries to cook for Sana sometimes to disastrous results. He once poked him hard in the face with cooking chopsticks during one of these lol. I like to underline that we in the LGBTQ community, especially gay men, can be domestic and cute together. Cooking together is the perfect way to do it, so my books are absolutely full of this.

Oh, honey, no. Neither Psychoborg nor Astra can cook. The extend of their knowledge is making a bowl of cereal or toasting toast. The closest they can can do is cook instant food and TV dinners you just heat up in the microwave.

XDD I don't even know anyone who calls it "making" a bowl of cereal, just pouring it. If you can't do that maybe...earth isn't the place for you.

Iyu can fish and Sanya can hunt, and they can both gut an animal and put it on a spit.

Other than that, no, not really. They were born rich; they never had a reason to learn to cook! Sanya makes kasha when they are stuck in the watch house, but Iyu makes a point of calling what Sanya makes bland, flavorless, and barely edible. Despite having no idea how to cook, Iyu loves food, but for Sanya, eating is a chore, not a pleasure.

I love to cook and bake. That's why it's so prevalent in my writing. Do you like to cook?

Although I haven't had any sort of cooking scene yet, I don't imagine that either of my current main characters are particularly great at cooking.
My MCs for Part 2 of my story (Where we are currently)
Alice's mother owns a cafe and is an excellent cook and baker so she never had a reason to need to cook for herself. I imagine that she subsists on leftovers and fresh meals whenever she stops by the cafe.
Theodore has spent his life as a soldier so I imagine that he knows the basics in order to survive but that's about it. Still, out of the two of them, I imagine that he'd have an easier time creating something edible at least.
MC's for part 1
I imagine Luke (Alice's cousin) is probably an excellent cook. He loves to spend time at his Aunt Catherine's Cafe so I imagine she taught him how to cook since her daughter Alice had no interest.
Hallie can cook basic meals but is more used to relying on eating out instead of cooking at home.

Fourthly Puzzled
Both Tina and Georgia are cullinary experts when it comes to online recipes and video tutorials, however from Georgia's side of the family, she learns it from her mother Nora as she was, is, and always will be the expert in making baked goods, soups, stews, gumbos, and more, even sweets, so in a way, there's a lifeline of cooking expertise. As for Rachael, she only knows how to cook frozens like frozen pizza or microwave tv dinners. Andy on the other hand, even though he's a child, he learns the simple things, like making sandwiches, but does learn from his momma and grandma from time to time.

Human Yet Hybrid
Only Edwina and Ida know how to cook, in a way, but it's mostly simple things like peanut butter and jelly, cheese and crackers, apple slices, salads, etc. But when it comes to doing it the easiest way they can go for, they use their magic to make something amazing, as long as they do it right depending on the spell they conjure up.

@wolfgeminie I think eggs with sugar might actually be a thing in some places, or for some people. I remember it being mentioned in "One Week Friends"

@SumireHime Yes I love cooking, creating recipes and baking. I've been making cookies since I was like five years old with my mother, and independently since I was like 7. My dad and I used to make croissants together and I liked making candy, ice cream and lots of kinds of baked goods like cakes and brownies "from scratch." Even invented some desserts for my family (that have been yet to be perfect, like pineapple sticky buns, and sesame seed quick bread, a chickpea "lava cake") I'm also pretty fond of making most dishes that include seafood, sauces, or cheese. I'm known in my family for my pesto.

What's are your favorite things to cook?

:scream: I can't believe you have a character named Hallie. That's the name of one of my central characters in "Hushabye Prince"

I LOVE cooking and baking too. In fact, I have a completed comic and one I plan to do in the future that are cooking themed.

Interesting. I've never had any of my character cook - only eat lol.

Zov'ha knows the basics of cooking but she avoids it. She loves baking. There's going to be a chapter in the comic about her favourite baker and friend.

Aekis he doesn't eat so he doesn't cook. Well, he eats only extremely spicy ramen.

Marana, like Zov'ha, knows how to cook but she'd avoid it. Her labs in Aeroz had automated food processors. And at home she made packaged stuff that could be easily reheated (unhealthy af I know but she doesn't need to care about being unhleathy... I mean she has a mechanical body so...)

Subeya I haven't thought about it. She's been so busy staying out of prison I don't think she had time to learn to cook.

Sinovan He's the best cook amongst them all. Can make anything and everything. And he's a healer so he can concoct some crude shit to cure people.

@Leyelle I agree with you :joy: where this character lives it's like a murder to mixed salt and sugar and the same time
in what is basically a savory dish

I know! I noticed the name while I was reading the minis. I really like the name and surprisingly I haven't changed any names since the first chapters I wrote in 2021
I do a bit of cooking, but honestly I am not much of a baker. I'm not the best at sticking to recipes and a wrong measurement when baking can ruin the whole thing.

Carmen (me) from Wild Nights, Hot and Crazy Days makes an internationally acclaimed spaghetti sauce (and by "Internationally acclaimed" I mean "the two Russians, the Cuban, the Italian, and the Swede that had it loved it"). I go all-out for my spaghetti sauce. I also bake an incredible lasagna, my calzones are to die for, and my rigatoni casserole will ruin you on all other rigatonis. And I'm not even Italian. I also barbeque a mean steak (I make my own marinades and sauces) and my gourmet hamburgers are the cat's ass. Oh, and my shish-kebabs are unmatched (again, I make my own marinades and sauces).

Some pics:
All of these ingredients (yes, the hot dogs too), are going into spaghetti sauce. I have the uncanny ability to know what things will taste good in what dish. Finely diced hot dogs impart a mild smokey flavour to the sauce. So does the pepperoni.

My OCD when dicing the peppers. I wish they had blue and violet peppers...

It all goes into this enormous pot. 36 litres. And I use every bit of it!

My lasagna. There are seven different cheeses in there (White cheddar, yellow cheddar, mozzarella, monterey jack, parmesan, provolone, and, of course, ricotta). The cheese alone costs me over $150, so I rarely make it.

Shish kebabbery is afoot!

Calzones (or Panzerottis, whichever you prefer):

...and the obligatory lobster shot because I'm Nova Scotian:

XD. once you learn the basics you can start switching things up little by little to suit your fancy because you know what'll mess up the science and what won't. when I first started making fermented foods, I was so panicked about getting it right for fear of making something toxic, but i've done it for so many years now it's just like any other part of cooking. when I was little we had a Mrs. Fields cookie cookbook that I used to follow all the recipes from, but now I can make my own cake and cookie recipes with no problem.
