Cancel culture vs creators

If you want to call out or criticize someone, want to hold someone "accountable", write your piece to let others know, unfollow them, and be done with it. There's a different between criticizing someone and looking for an excuse to bully

Me personally- I don't even have the energy to call someone out...once I find out so-n-so is a sh*tty person, I cut whatever ties I may have had with them right then and there. I definitely don't do the bullying thing; I'll make a suggestion- if a person doesn't take the advice, that's their problem...once again I cut my ties and move on.

I know it is a lot more complicated, I was just trying to sum it up. I am a bit annoyed that drama commentary channels for sort of flaming the gossip and pressuring people to pick sides.

As a creator with a pretty rough past I've just come to accept my past mistakes / things I got wrapped up in, and my audience are aware of the growth I've made and the situation I used to be in that led to those mistakes.

I think I've accepted the potential of being "cancelled" already as an occupational hazard because of how public some aspects of my past are. Sometimes people are going to be ignorant / act hastily and are going to do damage, but that's the way public discourse is at the moment. I think it's the way it's always been. It really sucks, and I wish it didn't work this way. I with more people cared about growth and improvement from creators rather than just the blind catharsis of taking down somebody with clout.

In a way, we're all vulnerable to it but... There's very little we can currently do about it.

People have already tried to tear me down before using stupid things I did or said as a teenager, or even just over dumb things like fandom discourse. I'm so used to it now that it doesn't even sting anymore.

Gotta say, cancel culture seems like a fancy name for ganging up on people with a moral crusade as an excuse......

Don't get me wrong. In some cases people need to be called out for their behavior, like pedophiles or other kind of messed up folks. However, the truth is that running with torches and pitchforks without knowing the full story will often cause more trouble and risk harming innocents.....

My opinion about it is that if people really want justice, they need to inform themselves on the issues they are getting involved, otherwise they may risk becoming a puppet for a manipulative jerk.

Accountability goes both sides, because when one jumps into a bandwagon, they are responsible for their actions.
We are humans, not lemmings, so just blaming the inciter will not clean the damage one was part of.

Oh, I always fear this, but not about mistakes in the past, but about non mainstream opinions. That's why I don't post some pages in english version of my comic, that I post in russian version, because people in english segment of the internet seem less open-minded and tend to perceive a lot of things as a personal attack

In all seriousness, being canceled is one of my biggest fears and is something I actively try not to think about because I know its going to happen to me eventually

Lmao I remember this one YouTuber talking about how he pissed off Kpop stans in his video on Twitter (the infamous "BTS vs. Backstreet Boys" meme) and he says so casually in the middle of his video "So I was cancelled and doxxed for a little while" and then he just continues to move on like it was nothing. (He also made two other sequels).

That dude did not give AF. Like can you imagine being doxxed?!? He wasn't playing around either because I remember seeing the video trending for a little while on Twitter.

Like I said, that dude is crazy lmao. I think he was actually baiting them to make a point by making the video as offensive as possible since his videos seem to follow the same format. Just to show the worst out of cancel culture and people who try to make people "hold accountability". They just see all red and type "OFFENSIVE!", but they're completely unaware the dude is making idiots out of them just for the sole purpose of content.

People will probably say he's crossing the line but he did the EXACT SAME THING WITH THE SEXY M&M PEOPLE and was the funniest thing I've seen all month.
