i initially planned my script with "chapter" formatting in mind.
it took me 10 "episodes" to get chapter one done. Almost every episode presents a meaningful scene/idea/information start to end.
soon i noticed that Premium webcomics on Tapas and WT don't label their work into chapters, instead it's just a continues string of events until the "season" is done.
Now that I'm done with chapter 1, i've been thinking perhaps i should change my approach while i still can...
Pros of forgoing chapters:
- Future-proofing for potentially going premium.
- Efficiency (4 chapters seem too short, but ~40 meaty episodes isn't)
- Cutting to the chase instead of filling up enough content to warrant a "chapter".
- Easier to plan out small episodes over a big chapter.
- You can take a break without timing it to where a chapter ends.
Cons of forgoing chapters:
- Scrapping your hard work and rewriting it to fit an episodic format.
- Your work may seem unorganized, even if you have a plan.
- Pacing might suffer since not all events/arcs are equally as long.
- No nice chapter covers and titles, lol. (i title all my episodes regardless)
- The temptation of filler episodes since they can easily slip in anywhere.
Honestly i like how chapters make things more organized, but I'm quite interested in a Premium potential...
any thoughts? should i just go for it?
This is my comic btw
