Character color clashing

OK, I asked elsewhere and apparently these 2 look too much the same? What do you think?

Some of these were drawn by finger, so forgive the wonkiness... Apparently though, that wasn't as big as of a issue as their color scheme. It's supposed to be lightning, so I thought this fit.. But what do you think?

I get what they mean, they all have the same or a very simular color pallete. Try to use something other than blue. If they're supposed to look simular or the same color is thematic in some way, try a ariation of blue, or use a color that complements it. For example, one can have green accents while the other has prple accents. Or go with contrasting colors like orange or red.

Either way, it's not a bad idea to diversify their color pallete and maby eeven their shape language.

We had to practice this chart in art & digital design school. It came in handy for me for OCs, website and graphic design.

I don't think they look the same? Yeah the colour scheme is similar but they are obviously two different characters with different designs. If that bothers you, then switch the colours up, but I'm not sure if it's needed, especially if they are in a team. Look at w.i.t.c.h, all team members had outfits in the same colours in their magical forms and it worked fine

I 1000000000000% agree with you: they look very different, me and the person who originally helped me come up with the designs made obvious differences to match their abilities and personalities, and I'm so glad someone sees this!

The only reason I ask because there were several people (on another site) who said they can't tell the difference between the duo, and that the colors confused them. Honestly if I do any other colors it'll ruin the theme, but I feel I need to so, so that everybody can plainly tell who is who..

I will look at w.i.t.c.h. and take everyone's advice here, as the comic has to appeal to others and not just me.. but I feel a huge sense of relief knowing their are people who can tell the difference between them in their original costumes

I agree with igneriss. I got the impression they're like a duo/partners from the same colors, and you gave the man a little more tan skintone and a gold belt. Maybe you could give the woman a gold lightning barrette in her hair? I think cause we mostly see the head/face first, that would be an ideal place for adding a bit more variety.

I actually got a pair of white chickens that look very similar, and I did it intentionally, hehe.

The intent was to clue the reader in on Friar being "dubbed", cause he has no wattles(the hanging bits on the beaks) in comparison to Bress and other roosters, but I know many might not catch that detail and that's okay. Confusion is just part of the reading experience, especially if we read too fast in that scrolling format, lol!
