idk, I still can't find a brush or setting for perfect color blending like in SAI xD But I agree that it's better for comic creation and has lots of useful tools.

Are you referring to SAI, SAI2 or both? While I have used CSP when it was still Manga Studio and agree it is a lot better and more adapt for making comics, SAI2 is alright. In fact, I want to show you a quick comparison in terms of overall execution.
The black and white one was made in SAI 2 and the second one is CSP.


Both can be good if your aesthetic and style can be maintained with either program. Sometimes it's not what you use, but how you use it. I never had the experience of Sai being buggy though. Two strokes for different artistic folks.

Paint tool SAI is a good painting program for beginner artist.
It's simple and easy to use on desktop PC with normal pen graphic tablet like Wacom Bamboo or Intuos.

But SAI is old, and extremely buggy on any pen graphic display tablet. SAI 2 is still in alpha state.

SAI can't be used on high DPI display, can't create any giant size canvas over than 10000px, no touch support, no text tool, no file backup,... and more. It's nearly imposible to use on Wacom Cintiq or Surface Pro, or any pen graphic display tablet devices.

When you need it to be used as a professional artist, most of the time you can't use SAI alone, but must use an additional program to complete the artwork. Meanwhile, Clip Studio Pro/Ex has nearly all the tool you need for painting and creating comic.

I'm not trying to force you to stop using SAI. If you like it, keep using it.
I just mean to says, you can save more time if you can find a better tool to practice.

Thought I'd chime in for anyone wondering what the differences are between CSP and EX, since I was just talking about this on the "what program do you use" thread! I'm glad I upgraded to EX.

The EX version is SUPER handy for doing batches of pages--you can enter all the text in one window and it'll appear on the pages, ready to position and add bubbles/tails.

Here's a screenshot of the Christmas special I'm working on right now; the set of 5 pages saved as a "story" on the left (I can click the thumbnail to open and edit the page in a new tab) and the story editor on the right:

For anyone wondering whether CSP Pro is worth it - it's amazing, and $25 is dirt cheap. Even $50 is a good deal IMO.

That said, I've been considering upgrading from Pro to EX but not sure if it's worth it. So far here's a list of EX-only features I've gathered from listening to other people -

• more assets / resources
• text bubble manager
• story manager (ability to see many pages at once)
• convert 3d object to lines
• batch import/export
• animation beyond 24 frames

Does anyone know of any other notable features in EX? A lot of these features seem like things I wouldn't use TBH, since I almost never use the assets, prefer drawing text bubbles by hand, don't use 3d models, and don't animate.

Yes, it does.
Huion has to make sure that their tablet work well on popular softwares, or else no one will buy their product.

I get too used to how I used the Pro version, I'm keep using the EX version like it's the Pro version.

One of biggest feature of the EX version is ebook & pdf export.
If you want to print your comic, sell it as ebook, or export a pdf file for your patreon, you will need that.

wait what? it does that? I've never seen this feature. I can only see epub, kindle, fanzine and batch export, and the latter only produces image files, one per page.

@ajcrwl It's a plug-in for CSP EX, cost 500G (about $5) on Clip Studio Assets store.

It wasn't available for the worldwide version is the past, because we didn't have the Assets store yet. But we do have the assets store now. I don't need the pdf import/export functions yet, so I don't know much though.

Ohhh, I see, it's not built in. I knew about that plug-in, but as you said, asset store was not available back when I wanted to get it. I even bought gold for it but couldn't find a way to install. Good thing my gold hasn't expired :> I see there's some cool free stuff too.

HOWEVER it installed everything in the wrong folder and csp doesn't see these plugins hnnnng, lmaooo. So I guess plug-ins still don't work.

Congrats! This is one of the reasons I post when Clip Studio has a sale- $25 for the pro version of this program is a STEAL, and the updates/upgrades are FREE.

Except if you're upgrading from Pro to EX- that costs a bit of money, but I think they are doing that for a sale price as well.

Yeah, I can’t to really try it out. I used the trial a bit and it was kinda confusing, so gee just when I get the hang of PS I switch to a new program I gotta learn about. Lol
