I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone looking for art-software! I've had it for a while now (I have yet to upgrade to the newest version with the animation-tools - I've been too busy drawing in the old version!), and it is the best thing.

The only reason I even open Photoshop any more is to convert my files to CMYK for printing.

I recommend this to any comic creator and any artist too, for that matter. There is simply no better program, in my opinion.

I highly recommend this program! It's really the best I've found for drawing digitally. The lettering tools could still use some improvement but the vector tools are to die for! Seriously, drawing in vector, being able to scale without losing quality has been the best for creating something meant for a comic panel but then later going back and scaling it to convention banner sizes, totally worth it. Also the eraser tool and line manipulation tools work the best with vector layers. After you draw with manga studio there's no going back to photoshop. XD

I recommend it- if you want go digital but you dont have a lot of money to get or make payments for photoshop & illustrator, this program is the best of both of those! You can make an ENTIRE COMIC in this program- digitally draw, ink, color, and letter! I've had this program for about a year now, and it's fun to work with...

Just installed the update with the animation- I dont plan on making any animation clips, but who knows..? It retains all your brushes, material, and settings as well...

Question, I have Manga Studio 5, is that the same as Clip Studio Paint or is Clip Studio Paint more like Manga Studio 5 EX?
If it's not the same thing, would I be able to upgrade?

Manga Studio 5 = Clip Studio Paint Pro
Manga Studio 5 EX = Clip Studio Paint EX (more expensive with more features. Can upgrade from Pro for a price of course)

I knooowww. Clip Studio isn't even a descendant of the old Manga Studio line. In fact, it is an improved version of Illust Studio. Manga Studio is the english version of a line called Comic Studio. The original Manga/Comic Studio and the Illust/Clip Studio's interface n' functions are quite different. And yet they decided to slap the Manga Studio 5 name on Clip Studio, lol.

I never heard of this until now and it looks amazing. I really don't understand how PS doesn't have a mouse stabilizing feature to even out lines. I'm downloading a trial of this, but I think I'm going to be a convert really soon. Thank you @lyon

thankfully the new update changes the title to clip studio so now any downloads after wards is gonna have the same name (if you don't buy from smith micro I guess?)

OH For anyone updating, if you open up and save old files in the new update then you'll convert it to the new file saving format. So you can't open it in older versions anymore. I don't see this as a big problem but for whatever reason, if this is for you I say holding off.

No, don't really want to pay more money if I'm happy with MS5, and have no need of an animation software when I have a decent one that I got way cheaper than I would with the upgrade to PRO.

Cheers @lyon thanks for the heads up. I'm pretty stuck in my ways, but I have heard nothing but good things about manga studio and I suppose by extension studio paint. Also never having to use gimp again sounds nice.
