Coloring thumbnails

Hello!
I want to share a comic step, that I know noone else is doing but that has come us very handy!
Coloring our thumbnails
I am coming from a background of animation.
In animation production is very expensive, so as much as possible needs to be planned ahead of time.
Key moments in the storyboard is picked out, to be colored so to find out the mood, light, tone and colors for that scene.

We are doing the same to our thumbnails!

It is so much easier to have consistency in colors, and find fun colors to work with by doing this!
I don't think we would ever have chosen a yellow moon fx.
It is easier to change at this stage than when 5 pages are already colored done.
Also we are a team, so it helps keeps consistency.

Wow this looks so beautiful I was working in a sort of animation "studio" and I always wanted to do the color scheme and all that
I don't really need it for my comic, the backgrounds are always monochromatic, but I think I can plan more on lighting and depts... mmm

Incredible! I love seeing the palette change throughout the story in animation- planning this far ahead with colors for scenes is really good advice.

Actually, there a plenty of us that to thumbnailing. Myself included, as it helps me visualize the scenes for my novels better. I learned form watercoloring pieces, I think it yeeted itself into my digital art now omg. XD

I come from an animation background too. Although, I don't always use the colour scheme on my thumbnails, I sometimes do. I guess it depends if the mood changes and I don't want to forget exactly what I had in mind for it.
