Comic Focused on Writing

I have been tossing an idea around for awhile now since I am a pure writer with limited artistic talent I want to try and make a comic featuring basically pure prose. Using subtle backgrounds and a heavy focus on typography to make it more visually appealing. Does anyone think this is able to be done successfully. I imagine the success or not will depend on the execution of the idea still trying to figure out how to go about it as well as the kind of writing it would need to be. It almost seems like it would work really well in a type of narrated portion like how normal comic intro's are "In a world not of our own, one hero takes a stand on their naive ideals against all odds to protect the week from the abuse of the strong." I think poetry might work as well. I feel like having walls of text wouldn't work really and you wouldn't want to write it like a comic really with a description and then the dialogue. I was thinking of trying to do something like comics for the blind where its like an audio book describing things in a fluffy manner and also have the dialogue.

So thoughts anyone on how to make this work its kind of a new medium I'm making in some ways but I think it would be cool if I could do something like this.

This sounds like something that could maybe work (honestly I think I have to see it to judge), but it's going to be challenging. I agree that walls of text are something that you should avoid. Do you have any reference to show on just how simple backgrounds you were thinking? One way to make it more comic like could be playing with the panels and how they move inside the page.

I have read stuff like this that I felt really works. Usually it was very abstract. But if you can pull off a good feel with stylised fonts and a coherence in the story then you could probably pull it off.

Presenting it as a "comic" might be the difficulty for some people though as that label comes with some preconceived notions of what a person is about to read. I'm not saying people can't get over that hurdle but I think it's going to present a challenge when promoting your work.

All the same, I believe that a good story trumps "bad" art. And your own enthusiasm for a project will be reflected in your work so if you feel like this is an idea that you believe in then go for it. It will probably come out better than if you try to make something that you don't feel as strongly about.

Only one way to find out: write yourself a simple, very short story and try it. I have a hard time picturing what it'd be like, but it's always nice to experiment!

I think A Softer World does something similar to what you're looking for? But yeah, it all depends on the execution, never know until you try

I'd say give it a shot ! it's a good idea and different from the norm, mayeb try some quick thumbnails or sketches of what you're trying to execute and see what people think, it sounds like one of those "need to see it" things. to determine if its feasible.
