The Edge of Average, I'll start with the critique...It's very cute! It's soft and fluffy and an easy read. The art is expressive and colorful (bonus points for using color instead of b/w). The main character is relatable in the standard sense. I'm seeing this theme with 'average' and I can't quite put my finger on it, but there's a combination of video games, feeling social pressure about what you eat, feeling socially isolated, feeling awkward, but there's no desire to grow out of these worries, just to accept them because nothing can change, in other words 'average'. I can't really say right now since the comic hasn't got many episodes yet, but I'd really like to see a character who was concerned with these very average worries learn to grow beyond them and mature as a person, rather than slice-of-life-ing it like a lot of other webcomics do, then maybe turn around and help someone else out of the rut too. Just my two cents, and certainly nothing to detract from a very nice sweet comic!
What are my comic goals? Hmm. pretty simple. I'm super driven to do my comic. I just have to do it. I've been running for 4 years weekly, I know my beginning, middle and end, and I've got to keep doing it. Everything else is bonus, and really enjoyable and all that, but the drive never leaves. I've made some friends and learned a lot, and have a lot more to learn, it's been great! But I'm just doing this thing.
