I hope you post it when it launches! And with the money, have you considered commissions? Thete are some even under the collaboration tab here in the forums, or you could ask for some on twitter and such places.

11 months? That is some fricken aweaome dedication! If you are having trouble expressing what is in your head, maybe ask for some help under the collaboration section in the forums? Maybe a writer can help get the words out, or a artist touch up a scene you can't get just quite right.
Don't give up!

Your work looks like it belongs in a book store! Gorgeous line work, creative and thoughtout character designs- awesome. The only thing is maybe change up text size and placement within the bubbles, it is a bit bland. Other than that, keep going!!

The Edge of Average, I'll start with the critique...It's very cute! It's soft and fluffy and an easy read. The art is expressive and colorful (bonus points for using color instead of b/w). The main character is relatable in the standard sense. I'm seeing this theme with 'average' and I can't quite put my finger on it, but there's a combination of video games, feeling social pressure about what you eat, feeling socially isolated, feeling awkward, but there's no desire to grow out of these worries, just to accept them because nothing can change, in other words 'average'. I can't really say right now since the comic hasn't got many episodes yet, but I'd really like to see a character who was concerned with these very average worries learn to grow beyond them and mature as a person, rather than slice-of-life-ing it like a lot of other webcomics do, then maybe turn around and help someone else out of the rut too. Just my two cents, and certainly nothing to detract from a very nice sweet comic!

What are my comic goals? Hmm. pretty simple. I'm super driven to do my comic. I just have to do it. I've been running for 4 years weekly, I know my beginning, middle and end, and I've got to keep doing it. Everything else is bonus, and really enjoyable and all that, but the drive never leaves. I've made some friends and learned a lot, and have a lot more to learn, it's been great! But I'm just doing this thing.

Never expect to make a lot of money, that's just wishful thinking in my opinion, still would be nice though. I make my two comics for their own individual reasons, one to make people laugh, the other to have an appreciation for life. I have a very negative view on life, but I know some people view life as the worst thing ever, so I generally make work that take a view point of life whether it's with my slice of life or my magical girl series:

Hi there!

For me personally, I've always loved making comics. I love telling stories that I get to draw out and combine my passions for writing and art. I only started publishing my comics on Tapas in hopes to earn some money on the side to help me with school and learn how to make more comics!

If you want you can support me by checking out my story on Tapas:

The Edge of Average is pretty much what you said, just showing the average and awkward side of life for myself, and maybe relatable to others. I do plan on showing what going beyond, or above average could do, but as the main character represents myself, I gotta get there first! I guess it is slice-of-lifeish, but I'll keep what you said in mind, and do my best to set myself apart.

I love the colors in your comic, very soothing. It is well drawn, and holy smokes, 4 years?? I respect that so much! I hope you never lose your drive! You keep doing it, you rock!

I want to tell my story... but it would be amazing to get a book published off of it and earn enough money for my husband to be able to stay home and work on it full time.

@paintbrushtales I rather like your slice of life comic. It's very relatable and very cute. You even keep to a good schedule. I look forward to seeing what you make in the future.

EDIT: Forgot to mention- this is done by my husband and I! (I write he draws the pretty things... I'm mean and gave him the hard part)

I hope that while you are trying to get others to view life better, you also change your own view. You are an amazing artist, and person for putting your own doubts of life aside to try and help others.

I hope one day you are able to get that book published! Your comic is delightful, I love the clean black and white look. You and your husband do a beautiful job.

Thank you so much! Yeah, sticking to once a week has been a little rough, but I am committed and will keep to it. Thank you! I hope I don't let your expectations down!

Just remember, there is no shame to taking time off to build a buffer! We do it and just do lil mini things or a q and a. If the fans know, they are cool with it.

I think your comic is so cool looking! It is so clean and original, with awesome character design! The concept is so cool.

A buffer is a line of comics already made for whenever you upload. It's to ensure that you always have some form of back up for updates. For instance you say you want to update once a week. You can either make a new update within that week or have a two week buffer already made, that way if you just aren't feeling it, you already have something made, and you can still make your update on time.

A buffer is when you have several comics lined up a head of time. For example, we already have the next 3 weeks of comics made. We've even uploaded them with tapas set to publish them when we want them to go up. Taking time off to build up a stack of comics a head of time really takes pressure off when you need to do a more complicated comic.

It also helps if you have scripts written ahead of time. So at any given point we have 2-3 weeks of comics already made and a month of scripts past that ready to work on.

I'd just like commenters and people who interact with the comic properly. Some more exposure would help with that
Everdream: Stars Hold no Boundaries is a coming of age metaphor set in a distant galaxy, where a girl named Cozmata lives with her adoptive mom and her aunt in a planet called Juuna. It is a lighthearted story about Cozmata getting involved on things much bigger than her, and having to rely on her family and those close to her to get past it. It is inspired by famous titles of sci-fi, fantasy and even slice of life like Star Wars, Destiny, Steven Universe, Gravity Falls and Hilda.

I can see what you are inspired by through your comics, though your characters are your own. Lovely design, though I think the way your text is set could be changed a teeny bit. You are awesome!

i consider myself an average, kinda bad, writer, at least when it comes start stories, so, i'd really appreciate some criticism on my comic.
I wanna become a better writer/artist and my goal is to do comics and storytelling in general as a professional, also i'd like to get some fans, so, thank you :stuck_out_tongue:
