[COMIC IDEA FEEDBACK NEEDED] Colour or black white?

Hi,

This is for a college group assignment in creating a funny, cute, comedy skit comic strip called 'Godly Friends'. Please vote in the poll below whether you like the comic strip in colour or black and white.

Personally I'd say B+W for now, but only because of the colour palette used in the left example - maybe if the values were a bit more balanced it could look really great in colour but it takes a long time to develop that eye for digital colouring.

I do prefer black and white. Maybe it has something to do with the style of it and all, my mind sticks to B/W when thinking of manga.

That said, it could be interesting to see the colors evolving as you progress. You'd have room for practice and stuff and that's always fun.
Also, since it's a comedy skit, color can give you some nice options for expression. Not that B/W can't, of course, but...

(I really like the hard ''I'm doing something wrong'' shadow on the guy's face in panel 3 of the colored one haha Don't quite mind the background color, though)

I personally prefer colored, and in this case the colored version looks better than the black and white one.

Black and white is going to help you learn value and contrast which is important to learn in order to use colors well, so yea, I think black and white

I notice the colored version has some shading on the clothes that isn't present in the black and white version. If you did the same kind of basic cel shading in the black/white version (but obviously with just gray values) then it would definitely look better than the colored version in my opinion.

As it is now, I think I like the black/white version marginally better, since the flat colors and gradients in the colored version have that kinda "sterile digital" look, for lack of a better term. Flat colors seem more natural in black and white, at least to me.
