Comic/novel movie live action or animated?

If you had the money and the resources to make a movie of your comic or novel would it be live action or animated?

Who would you cast to portray/voice your characters?

What style of animation would it be?

What kind of movie would it be?

I’ll start! I think if I were to make an animated movie for Elsie or Cracking there’s one thing for certain. I DO NOT WANT IT TO BE CGI!!!

I’m just gonna confess. I like traditional or digital drawn animation. I just don’t see any of my characters being CGI it would seriously freak me out.

Anyway if I were to make it animated, I’d want to have my comic dub voice cast for the roles if any of them were animated.

If I were to do a live action Elsie thought I would cast Tom Holland as Ernest and Bradley James as Roy.

For Elsie and Rosemary I at first went for Kiera Knightley and Rosemund Pike as those two, but I changed my mind. Lemme know if you have suggestions for Elsie and Rosemary.

Animated more likely. I don’t think Nixvir can work in live action. I would want British actors and ONLY British actors doing the voices. If it were poissible to bring him back, I would have Peter Sallis, the voice of Wallace, voicing Ragnar. Sylvester McCoy - the 7th doctor - would voice Erik, and Emilia Clarke would probably voice Oriel.
I would also produce a live action short using puppetry just to show WHY Nixvir can’t work in that medium.

I doubt my work would translate well to live action. I feel like studios would just get lazy when it comes to casting actors.

I think hand drawn would be ideal but I would be OK with 2D puppet animation if it was done well. Like from Titmouse Studio.

I would HATE my style being forced into a 3D pixar style. Like if 3D is my only option, I would prefer if it had a flat texture like Pachamama.

I'd be open to live action, but I have 100% always drawn 7ssc with an animation-esque mindset so its GOTTA be animation. With unlimited money and resources, it'd def be like a Studio Bones/MAPPA style animation.

I don't have specific voices in mind, but like I know the vibe and general demeanor of everyone's voice lol

I've actually frequently wondered what a live action Niji Chikara movie might look like, which I blame mostly on the amount of live action superhero movies that exist nowadays, lol. I feel like some of the character designs would have to be altered to look good in a real world setting.

That being said, an animated movie would probably suit the series way better (and would involve way less CGI).

Always have a pipe-dream of pitching to A24 especially since I know now that they do animated projects
And they let the original creator have a hand in how the project is made -
I'd rather it be 2D cause I think it would be more easily digestible as a 2D TV show rather than a live-action movie

As for voice cast I'd wanna hire Indies, (especially since im friends with a few)

Oofies I only ever thought about dream casts with my other project

Animated.

In no small part because - even though animation is no easier a skill than acting, you can always find an animator to match a style whereas it's harder to find a replacement actor that looks and sounds close enough to the previous actor portraying a character if something happens/we run out of steam midway and the production has to be put on hiatus for a decade or smth Animation is timeless :]

Animated. Maybe could pull off rotoscoped cel-shaded 3d over 2d backgrounds (least thats what ive done...once. Timing keys are the hardest part, and lip-syncing to dialogue. Which ive never done.

Sorry. I realize im sounding like actually putting a potentisl project into plan, though im only thinkin hypothetically based on what very little ive tried.
Done some hybrid 3d anim, but it was my first real attempt and burned me out for several years. Guess i already have resources, just not money...

Getting voices to match the characters would be the biggest challenge-haven't looked up specific names, been a minute since i've kept up with entertainment biz. But then again, I'd feel anything works if you are familiar with disney and older style animation--as far as voicework goes.

So, uh. Definitely animated, hybrid, and maybe done my me? The cast director can handle the voicework...

It would definitely be animated, but a live action with high levels of production design could work too. I'm just more a fan of animation haha.

As for style, oof, that's a difficult question. I'm toen between 3D animation in the style of either Spiderverse or Arcane and 2D animation by the likes of Trigger or Bones.

No clue about actors though, of all the things I can imagine and see in my mind, their voices are silent to me. I simply can't hear their voices as anything but variations of my own voice.
That said, there is one who I think could fit. Sam Witwer for Grayson.

Okay I've been doing some deeper thinking and watched some clips from Arcane, and maybe Vi's voice actress, Hailee Steinfeld, could be a nice fit for Kyara!

honestly, I'd probably have to leave them animated. So far, we have two stories. One would look good in a 3D animation, and the other would be better as just an anime. However, animation gives way for much more in depth emotions and action scenes can be a little more cartoony and exciting.

I'd definitely continue following the formula we use for the art style of the animations, though. Our characters are all part of the same universe, yet their art styles are different. This is representing the idea that "Everyone sees themselves differently," and it shows that each character has their own outlooks on life. One can be cartoony and overembellished, while another could be dark and depressing. All things are different depending on who's eyes you're looking through.
