"If someone bullies you, that means they like you"
Just...what makes this ok to say to any child? All you're implying is that:
A) Bullying is ok if someone likes you.
B) People who truly like you go out of their way to hurt you.
And I know this is often used in terms of boys bullying girls, but growing up, I also equally heard a lot of parents tell their sons this nonsense when girls bullied them. It just really made me grateful that my family never said anything like that to me or ever hinted that it was ok for someone to bully me just because they "liked" me.
Honestly, it's how you groom people into thinking abuse is ok or that they somehow deserve being mistreated.
