I agree with you. Seeing amazing art is extremely motivating and It makes the process more exciting, challenging even.
I guess It depends in what art skill and confidence level each artist has.
I think It depends either If you have a growth mindset, in which you're able to look at other amazing artist and say "Wow! I'm going to be that good someday If I work hard and pratice". And you can look at what you can learn from that artist
Or a fixed mindset " I will never improve, I will never be this good no matter how hard I try.."
Those with fixed mindset can become bitter, jealous, all the things...
And ofc there are times in which we can have a phase on both, maybe a moment of weakness. It depends on what stage and the kind of person, maybe mindset you have. I prefer to look at lots of art from others. Makes me competitive and inspires me to do better, as I see you're the same as well.
