Webtoons' Lore Olympus To Become YA Animated Series from Jim Henson Company

I think this is exciting for the webcomic community as a whole for a known company like Jim Henson to be taking on a webcomic like this.

It gives me hope that it can happen to more of us one day.

I agree it's exciting and I hope more avenues of media are opened to webcomic creators.

It just makes sense this would happen. Traditional comics (including newspaper comic strips) have gotten movies, cartoon shows, live action shows, and more.

the jim henson company are really cool, and im glad its adapting a comic with such unique art! gets the fire under my butt to finally read lore olympus. im sure itll be a gorgeous animation

tho when i first heard it was gonna be jim henson i was like... puppet hades?

I was so excited to hear this, it was all over my Facebook feed. Even though I don’t read that comic, it just shows that with hard work and persistence anything can happen!

ngl, I am SO HAPPY Lore Olympus is getting an animated series. I've been following the comic since it's time in Discover, and it's one of my favorite comics on Webtoon.

I'm also super happy that more and more webcomics are getting adapted to animated shows!

I'm really interested in seeing what the art and animation would look like. Smythe's style is really unique.

I think it's great! I haven't read Lore Olympus, but I've heard a lot of people talking about it.

I'm optimistic that the Jim Henson Company will do a good job. They already have some experience collaborating with comic makers (I love the Dark Crystal graphic novels), so I think they can do a good job adapting a webcomic into a show.

i tried looking it up annnnd i'm not quite certain what kind of shows they do? ^^; all that comes up are puppet shows?

Although this isn't the first adaptation a webtoon got--- years back (2016?) Noblesse got an OVA adaptation (which was what introduced me to vertical webcomics)

And recently another anime series adaptation was announced for Noblesse (now that the webcomic is over, i guess?) as well as Tower of God

Ooh I was also a little confused bc I only know their puppet shows/movies, idk if they ever worked with animation before?

But they did make multiple comic adaptations of the original Dark Crystal movie, and their new Dark Crystal series takes a lot of references from their comics (btw if you like high fantasy/dark fantasy I really reccomend it lol... the puppets can be a little off putting at first but you can see they put a lot of passion and effort into their work!)

The series might also be on Netflix, which also means a chance of getting a lot of eyes that never seen webcomics before! I was going to post a thread about this if OP didn't do it first, as soon as I saw it on my feed.

Lore Olympus isn't my cup of tea, but I'm so proud for the artist(s), and it's also a more western-styled webcomic getting picked up. Manga-style adaptations already have a bit of a lead with One Punch Man and the others mentioned above, but a comic with its very own style getting picked up? That's amazing.

Also puts my head in the clouds thinking of my favorite comics getting adapted with proper respect but I don't think a lot of them would even consider it, either because it's told better as a comic or they'd loathe the sudden fame and the negative aspects that would soon come with it.

They said it'll be animated so I'm curious exactly how it will be adapted.

Since most of Jim Henson's animated work after 2000 have been CGI, unless they go with a flash-style as they do with Dot.

i'm betting one of the first series would be one of their biggest IPs like UnOrdinary, I Love Yoo, or even Let's Play (despite it having animated shorts)

Honestly, i just hope they pick something that was on Canvas/Discover over licensed big Korean IPs or commissioned webcomics from big studios, but that's just my own bias (._.
