Critique my BL comic

Yes, I'm serious.

I know that making a BL comic is basically playing the webcomic game on easy mode, but if that were really true, where are my 100K subscrbers?

Just kidding If I really wanted to be that popular, I would just make a cutesy, colorful slice of life comic with annoyingly adorable characters.

Anyways, I have a very strong drive to improve so I was curious if anyone would like to give me some honest feedback, the comment section on my comic isn't very helpful as you can imagine.

Sorry, cannot provide a proper critique, but your art is really nice You could probably gain more subs if it would be in colour too, people like their coloured comics.

I've stumbled on your comic a couple of times because I'm also making a bl rock band comic and explored this field.
But I don't like that it comes per page. there are pages when nothing happens and pages that are linked but the flow is ruined by contrast colorfull ads. Which instantly cause optical illusion and the next panek you see seems to have green faces... I still don't get the idea of single page comics in apps buit for infinite vertical scroll use it to your advantage not othervise.
If you want to boost up audience I'd suggest to make it colored at least, your lineart is very clean and coloring it with flats at least shouldn't be a problem.
if there are no other users I'm willing to read it closely after a work day and share my honest and not so seet opinion

I guess I'm just comparing myself too much to others (the struggle of every artist I guess). Now that you mention it, the most popular comics have been going for quite some time. I just wanted to know if I was doing something wrong. And you're probably right about the colors I don't know if I'm ready for that yet, but maybe one day

Hi fellow rock band BL comic artist Yeah I feel like I am sabotaging myself by not wanting to conform to the standard. I have been into webcomics for a long time (close to ten years) So I'm desperately clamping on to the standard comic format and black-and-white look. I didn't think it would be that big of a deal, but thanks for clearing it up!

well it might not be a big deal... just the way apps hadle it espesially in mobile is kinda frustrating. the ui and layout isn't grate for single page comics

Just checked it out, I absolutely love your art style. I don’t think that being in black and white detracts from it, but I do agree that unfortunately scrolling comics tend to work better in websites like tapas and Webtoon. Nonetheless, it’s a solid comic (the numbers seem to agree) and I think I’ll stick around and give it a read

Your comic has been on my to-read list for some time (I love J-rock, so mix that together with a BL story and this kind of subject is right up my alley) so it's interesting that I've found this thread to remind me to read it through now. At a first glance I really love the art, it's very consistent, the thumbnail is dynamic and colorful, and the description does a good job of explaining the premise enough to give some intrigue. I'm getting the vibes that I could expect to read about eventual emotional conflicts and maybe some existential crises, and I love that kind of stuff so, yeah, seems interesting!

On another note, since you seem to be lamenting the growth in your readership, I'd have to say the first thing that will boost your audience is definitely the thumbnail, specifically a clear shot that showcases your two characters together that kinda screams BL, lol. Personally I really love your current thumbnail, though, but I know from experience that changing the thumbnail really does help boost your comic. I'll give it a read through though, and if you want a more in depth opinion on the story, I could give a proper critique/review for ya! Keep up the good work!

Ok your comic looks be amazing and the characters are natural, the poses are not harsh, the synopsis is involving and makes me want to read.

The only thing that bothers me is the one page for chapter, if your comic were meme and small joke comics I understand, but your comic is not that, your comic has a story an drama and the fact that your comic is the one page per chapter strip the climax completely, and makes the story not become as engaging as it is.

But I understand that it is very difficult to make a long chapter every week, even more if you work or study and don't have time.

I did comics with "big" chapters i ended up erasing all of them because i had no time and i felt bad with them.

So in some cases it is better to make a page per chapter than to make a big chapter and feel stuck in the comic you do.

About the colors I have nothing to say, I just don't read black and white comics because they make me depressed but that's my problem and I have to deal with it~
