Critique this trading card design...among other things

This is promo material for a comic series, Ether Deluxe. It's been on hiatus since last summer, but I'm about to bring it back, and I thought it might be time to finally work seriously on its eponymous trading card game. At the very least, I should design the cards. =9

I can already see issues with this layout, but I dunno...I was working on it, and my brain just gave out. My muse suddenly went out for a smoke; however you wanna call it. I could use some suggestions...

The issue that bugs me the most is the name lettering...so the main name of all the cards in the series is the same (in this case, 'Asterope') but the preceding titles vary in length. Most of them are color names, and I designed that little light blue blob to fit them in, but I forgot about the 'basic card' titles, which are longer, and usually two words each...and what I did up there is not ideal.

And now, here's the other thing: so the card series' are mostly made up of palette swaps of the characters, and for some reason I just bombed when it came time to do the 'twilight' and 'dawn' palettes:

Dawn is actually half-way decent-ish, but Twilight is a mess (can I blame it on the fact that I was color picking from a sunset photo? I want to)...so, if you have any ideas, I'd appreciate them. ^^;

The design here gives me more of a collectible baseball card vibe. If I’m right in assuming that, I’d get rid of the blob and put the card name in that space at the bottom, then the variant of it to the side, kinda like this:

As for the palettes, I dunno dude. I wish I was better at articulating stuff about color. I know at least the first thing I’m drawn to when I look at Dawn is the chest part of the dress, then the gradient on the skirt on Twilight. Don’t know if that was intentional or not so maybe there’s some ideas you could get from that?
