I, after several days of procrastination, finished writing a chapter. I’m currently editing the previous chapter so I can schedule them to upload.
Hopefully I’ll be able to plot out the second half of my story. Gotta consult my notes

Full day today:

More screenplay editing , and then we need to go through another novel3 we wrote and re-write, plus working on a short story commission we should have had done in August.

Thank heaven for patient and kind commissioners. :rose:

I'm hitting writer's block for my latest chapter and it's making me a little sad. I don't want to rush my ending but all I can think for the next part is rushing my ending :cold_sweat:

Hmm. Maybe expand the ending, Cherry. Take a look and see what other loose ends could be tied up. OR...ad a sudden loose end no one saw coming.

In total haha, I try to write every day, but sometimes it's just not feasible with the work pressure I get from uni

Start with rushing, then get back over it... that's my recipe. I find that it is often impossible to storm the castle AND pay attention to what shade the fire had turned the banners, and how the gunpowder smells. But in the end, you need both for those who read to feel like they are storming the castle.

Heh, thank you... I've just went twentieth time through the non-intrusive way to explain what the patronymic name means to a fatherless orphan.

The fact that my characters' names mean something very different, a Big Foreshadowing, when you change the stress on one syllable is coming in the next chapter.

It does translate, but I dunno how well it translates. I know that my non-Russian speaking kid struggles with how to say his name, even though it's 5 letters.

I can totally understand the feelings with Russian patronyms. From my study, even remembering that names like Vera or Sasha aren't necessarily feminine names like they are in English. Russian middle names and surnames are still boggling to me.

I've never met a male Vera. Maybe it's something that had been adopted for boys in the last 20 years since I've left, but yeah, Sasha was always unisex.

That Russians do not have middle names, despite having a formal 3-part name, is kindda weird to a Westerner. I had to explain to someone just recently that when their character says to use his patronymic as his private name, he says, "Hey, please call me by my father's name instead of my name."

I will have to test these chapters and explanations on my kid to see if steam starts rising from her ears, heh. Weird Russian Lore, and we are not even into the fantasy/sci-fi portion of the story yet! Lol.

I'm always game to learn about different cultures. I'm still such a newbie with Russian. I can recognize the characters/words for "this is", yes/no, and milk. haha. I am starting to get better at recognizing my Russian pronouns too, so that's a victory for me

Ah, well, if you ever end up reading it, I will welcome any comments on the confusing or over-explained bits!

I finished at 8.9K so 900 words yesterday, with a lot of editing. My kid is still helping me, so that’s pretty good. But, boy, does she keep asking for spoilers... I am like :cry_swag:

At 9.6 total, so 700 words, but I did a lot of editing with my kid—she’s now all caught up to the chapter I am currently working on; and on the next week batch of chapterettes of the Trapped by the Mafia. Wee!

How is everyone else?

I stayed up absurdly late last night to edit a chapter and add some more to a scene. Crashed, woke up to schedule my next batch of episodes and I plotted out the next arc of my story.

Congrats on the staff pick @domisotto 🥳🥳 you deserve it!

I finally got the break up scene I wanted written and more background on my MC

I've set a goal for 14,000 words tomorrow. It's a full 100% free day off and I want to finally get to 80,000 words again!
My previous record for most words in a day was 12,500, so I should be able to do it if I just sit down and focus. I think I'm going to skip tomorrows upload as well so I can really focus on hitting this word count!

Good luck on your goal. I've only been able to do about 1,500 words in a day before I go stir crazy

That's really impressive, don't burn yourself out. I can write a lot like that, but then I end up taking forever to edit it to my liking, and doing the editing all in one go is painful for me when I wanna continue the story.

I'm only setting it so high since I have the day off and can commit to both high word count and good quality! I already know where the plot is going so I don't have to worry about figuring out what to write which will make it a lot easier

I was on the road most of the day yesterday + had DnD when I got home so I have to get all my updates ready (for both Wattpad and Tapas) ready today. No pressure.

Thank you, it was a total surprise, but, omg, the exposure is insane! I wish everyone had this kind of two days 🥰

@WillowTree that’s insane goal, so respect!

@IntoTheTempest preparing the updates is tons of work... go for it!

Been doing 1.5k everyday for a month till I reach 50k which takes a little above a month if I do it all perfectly. In total right now I've written around 38k with a break due to family visits. So far I'm loving the story so much.

1.5K is an excellent daily total. Yup, it amounts to a protonovel in like 6 weeks, and it is more doable than 1.7K. I always want to get there, but 1K is more comfortable for me.

Woah y'all's schedules seem difficult! I could never write that much! I'm prescheduling some episodes right now

1k is certainly a healthy writing pace to have. There are days where I accidentally go slightly above 1.5k but that's only if the story is doing really well and I'm enjoying it a lot. But usually, it's even hard to get to 1.5k. Oh and I go at 50k mainly because I write light novel type stories where its just something to quickly sit down and enjoy. (It's a Japanese origin format btw)

I am 5000 away from my goal. A couple 'responsible adult' errands took away a little bit of my writing time, but I'm still trying to get there!!

Guys, this is a really low bar here, but yesterday I actually opened my word document. If I can write even 500 words today, I will have achieved my goal.

(Don't mind me, just crawling out of my hiatus depression )

That's great news!

I aim to write around 400 words a day and edit any work that has been done previously. Generally wrote 200 in the morning and an additional 200 in the evening and if I manage to do more then thats a bonus for me!

You know, one of the fitness principles that helped me for years and years was that idea of 'I'll just go and stand on the treadmill' which is exactly what you are doing, and that's awesome. It means that you are not disengaged from your story!

I am excited to start writing today, because I am into the last 2 chapters of Act I, when the fantastic/sci-fi element gets introduced and the premise gets lore-dump-- ahem, explained to my sweet Werewolf-to-be. And his "what you want" for Act 2 becomes clear.

On the downside, I will have to describe the Team, and I always dislike writing those intro scenes when a lot of people have to come on board. I am cheating a little, introducing three of the characters a little earlier in 'quick glance way'. But I still have three more to round out the research team. Ouch.

But, I will keep Assassin Creed (modern day portions) close to my heart and go for it.
