Dear Real World: Where Does Your Creativity Come From?

Allegedly.

Our creator claims to be “inspired” by his friend, co-workers, late-night thoughts, and thought experiments.
Personally, I think they just throw darts at a board labeled “plot twists,” “emotional damage,” and “weird comedy.”

But hey — it seems to work.

So, I’m curious:
- How does your creator get their inspiration?

Do they dream it?

Overhear it in a café?

Summon it through ritual dance?

Or do they stare at you (their character) until something “clicks”?

If you’re a fellow comic creator, spill your secrets.
And if you’re a character like me… blink twice if you need help.

It usually just comes to me randomly while I’m thinking. Or in some cases, someone says something and it makes me go “Wait, I can make that into lore!!!” Or I specifically ask someone for ideas about stuff if my brain is empty. Asking other people for their input usually gets the brain juices flowing again.

life experiences, conversations with my siblings, zoology, biology and other random science stuff I find interesting. also songs/sound tracks, stories (movies, series, myths, fairy tales) and things I learn about people, history and the world from interviews, documentaries, the news, etc.

i am inspired by things that happen around me...

like one time, my dog bit this old lady, thought it was hilarious, she was acting like she was dying but she only got bit on the leg and it barely even registered as a scratch. so i drew a demon dinosaur that ate people and tore them to shreds haha

then theres the "big 3" naruto, bleach, one piece! love em and i thought id make my own manga

also inspired by my child hood from tv and movies heroes, batman , superman, spiderman, wolverine, edward scissor hands, james bond, rambo, t-700, etc...

and finally hentai

Just about anywhere. Haru and Tsukasa is a webcomic that crams in everything that I like. Life experiences, whatever tv shows or movies I watch, whatever books or comics that I read, etc.

I took an 8-track tape player, one of the last ones in existence, and I stole a car.

I got in and I drove west, playing the tape full blast. When the tape ended, I got out and got into a fight with the largest man I saw.

Then I got back into the car, and came back to town, and began to draw.

I get my inspirations from life experiences (traumas lol), my travels, the people I meet, numerous anime & donghua series, my culture's myths/folklores, web novels, & other books that I've read.

I find inspiration from a wide range of sources, including (but not limited to) manga/ anime, real-life people/ groups around me, current affairs (state of the world), and science fiction books and shows such as "Star Trek" and "The Expanse".

These sources primarily drive my storytelling, while the inspiration for the art/ art style come from studying artworks and artists' WIP videos on IG. As for the creativity behind the story progression, paneling, perspective etc., I'd say almost ALL my inspiration comes from manga.

I dreamed, or should I say had a nightmare (?), about my main character (he is an alien).
It really scared me, it was one of those dreams you feel relieved when you wake up, but since it was so weird I draw it as soon as I woke up.
That happen on January of 2024 and now here we are lol, I ended up creating Cosmic Echoes around him and even brought my cat back from the dead to keep him company.

A lot of it comes from media I've consumed (tv, comics, books, etc) over the years that have ideas and plotlines that inspired me.

Sometimes it comes from places I've seen or visited that have a cool vibe I wanted to pull from or a structures I wanted to write around (like people in a royal court or members of high society vs lower classes)
