Seriously, I don't know about you,but basically every siingle day I get notifications about random Kakao comics...

They keep piling up amongst my works' notifications and when I'm able to see a comment or an ink gift, or anything, the person was buried under tons of princesses, villainesses and levelling up kpop haired lads.

Do this happen to you, too? Is there a way to turn this off? It's so incredibly annoying and invasive.

If I was interested in comics with these themes I would browse to find them, just like I do in other platforms.

It is.
And whew, twice a day? Becoming more aggressive, it is.

Sometimes the promoted comic isn't even available in my country. What is even the point?
In my case, the actual notification sometimes doesn't show. Or they show after being checked on.

This makes me feel lazy to check on the notification. I think they should make categorization of notification (like dA), and give a mute option.

As far as I know there's no way to turn it off.
The longest time without Tapas ads this year was 14 days, I think that was in July.

Eesh,
Actually I never received most of these notifications from tapas like you have strange actually normally if I ever get a Notification from them is Whenever they are doing anything special or an upcoming event here.

My Recent activity shows people who I've talked too or my subscribers but anything else than that nope but in your Case its like an Everyday thing.

haha I have those notifications too. I always ignore them. I only find notifications of likes, comments and subscribers relevant.

Oh no! That is very annoying! I actually don't get very many of those, and I wonder if that's because I changed the notification setting on the mobile app?

I turned off reminders for "Personalized recommendations" "Gifts" and "Messages." I have no idea if that's how it works, but I don't really get very many of those spam notifications on the website or the app. (although I did get one this morning about a genie or something, so who knows. Tapas should definitely make it easier to opt out of these messages for sure!)

Okay this might sound weird but I don't get these notifications? Like just once or twice in a month....

I never get any notifications except notifications about them telling me Discord is available, and also comments and replies to stories. However, I am also in the habit of turning off the majority of notifications in Settings the moment I have an account anywhere. Maybe that would help you

I have a feeling these spam notifications are just more so about Tapas trying to do more to promote a series. Even if it's already popular, maybe they feel more needs to be done or something. The biggest series on here are still not popular as the biggest ones on Webtoons, for example, and the two sites are definitely competing. Tapas is trying to step up their game, I guess? Repetitive ads can help something gain views (and once you get views, hopefully readership), The more someone sees something repeatedly over time, the more one "trusts" it and wants to give it a chance. This isn't true for everyone, of course, as others are turned off by having to see it so much, but this happens a lot. I think it's called the "mere-exposure effect".

I have those off as well, but this is still exactly what my notifications look like, consider yourself lucky :sob:

That is so odd that some people are getting them and others are not. I looked around the site page and didn't see a way to change notification settings. I will consider myself lucky then. It must be exhaustive to sift through all the spam. :disappointed:

Yeah, I get them all the time and it drives me nuts  I wish there was a way to turn it off completely or at least customize it to a genre that appeals to me more so I won't keep getting these princess uwu stories or K-pop stuff.

The desktop website doesn't bother me but I hate those messages being lumped in with your inbox on the mobile app. Every time it's like, "oh hey did someone like or sub??" and then, nope, ad spam. :cry_02:

Lol guys its crazy good to see how different are the experiences. I don't even use the app (it sucks hard, sorry),and I wonder why they chose some desktop users to spam bomb them, with genres they barely touch. they should take care of this. Forced advertising is always bad advertising, and iin the end it will be bad for the creators. I already got a very bad taste. If the comics are good they speak and get engagement for themselves. If readers who might like them can't find them, this is a problem of your design/browsing team, not ours.

Nah, fam, no turning off option available for desktop uncles like me. Gotta ask the villainesses ladies and levelling up gentlemen to leave my yard politely.

I would ignore them as well, until they started sending me so many it buried the relevant ones and I would find a gift ink like 1 month after the person sent. I get really angry when platforms try to spoil my relationship with readers.

I'm always on desktop, I don't like accessing the Tapas app. However, now that I look at the settings I can see there's nothing on notifications . I did have the Tapas app at one point and made my account there, so I think what happened is when I turned off notifications on my app, it also applied to the desktop since it's account-wide. That's my guess. Maybe if it drives you really crazy, you can install the app for a brief moment and try it :joy:

I get them a lot. It bothered me how they would show up as “message” notifications.

I have everything turned off in the app except for activity notifications and it doesn't bother me anymore, but there are no options on desktop and my recent activity is always just this daily

and the settings cog on this page leads to email settings which have nothing to do with notifs at all??

16 days later

:triumph:
I took a looong break and instead of finding my private messages notifications I got lots of suggestions of villainess duchess Isekai comics.

I want to log out again .
