I'm trying to come up with some unique uniforms for my comic...like a futuristic take on the usual American blah, but with a kind of Japanese flavor, if that makes any sense.
Here's a high school uniform design I did (ignore the catgirl):
It's simple, but somehow it works. It's got the American blah factor: the whole thing is nearly all one color, almost like prison garb, and the pants look slightly alien, as if they were bought separately from the shirt.
But with the bold light patch, and the exposed midriff, and the featureless white shoes, the whole thing gives off a...vibe. Like, it looks intentionally designed. ^^;
I want the middle school uniforms to look cuter, though...I think the reason they've all failed is because so far I've tried to recapture ^this, but this kind of design doesn't work well on a tiny body; it doesn't look as stylish.
It needs something else to make it work...some kind of overt structure to compensate for the shorter limbs and whatnot...how do I do this...?
