Hi everyone! I'm trying to revitalise my comic but I'm finding it a bit overwhelming and would love a bit of feedback to help me out. It's pretty short and I'm happy to feedback/boost your projects in exchange. Just add the link in your reply.

What do you think! Are the square shaped panels annoying? Is it too boring in black and white? Do the jokes make sense? Please help!

Sped read through all of this. I love it. The jokes land. Everything is giving older animal crossing vibe.... I wanna draw and animate Robin. I hope she finally gets good sleep lol.

Interesting how there's so many anthromorphised animals and she's the only human there so far.

Easy to read and follow. Boring? Can't say that.

Cute comic! I really love the art style, and I love the grungy greyscale water colors, it gives that terrifying feeling of moving to a new city and being out of your element.

I think my biggest issue is understanding what your comic wants to be? Right now, the formatting seems very 4-koma esque. Especially with how it seems like some poses and scenes feel like copy paste with slight expression changes and dialogue changes. (Also there are slight grammar mistakes but I digress)

The impression of the art and the description lead me to believe this is gonna have some larger narrative, but since there are only a few episodes it just reads as a gag comic in black and white (which isn't bad, just something to keep in mind!)

I am not great at writing comedy, but I think the gag's may need a touch more set up before the delivery? But I'm a guy who likes stand up which can often lead to more long winded narratives before the punch lands lol

Overall, its really cute! I'm curious to see what sort of things you want to change or adjust about it since it's been 6 years since you posted that first episode

I think the art's great, really charming, and the black and white fits it so well, nothing boring about it

a lot of the jokes land for me, but even the ones that don't, don't detract from the story

I also have to say I really admired your backgrounds, you mentioned they took you a long time, but they were definitely worth it, they did so much for your world/setting

the only critic I have is about your storyboarding, sometimes the actions are a little unclear, or the panels could be sequenced better, it was nothing major though, a lot of it was solid, it's just something I noticed from time to time

'Rat Surprise! 01' is the only major instance, it was unclear to me he turned into garbage (what a twist btw) until I looked at it a few times.

I really like that episode with the human made of rats. Creative idea + made me wonder what other powers the animals in this world had. I like how the animals emphasize the feeling of MC moving too a strange new world (the squid shopkeeper she couldn’t understand).

The square panels are perfectly fine + were easy to follow. I like the sketchy b&w pencil look, your shading and character drawings are really good. The few jokes I gathered were okay. Not big laughs, but cute enough they lightened the tone + made me want to keep reading on. I assume the MC is next going to confront the band player. Maybe they’re a woman and they fall in love, just guessing from the romance and lgbt tags.

Very good so far. Make more of it.

Thank you that's really helpful! Honestly you've really hit on some of the things I've been worrying about. I found the 4 panel style layout really limiting especially since the parts people actually seemed interested in was the larger narrative and the world building. I'm not convinced any of the one of jokes actually landed with people.

I guess I'm torn between reworking the story in a more traditional comics format, and focusing a bit more on the narrative element or cutting my losses, learning what I can from this and moving on to a new project that has more legs.

Also I've started reading Seven Stars Silver Clouds and I'm pretty hooked so far.

Just read the waterpark arc of Free Falling, it's really funny! Like an extra nightmarish Action Park. I think my only issue with it is that the fight isn't very clear right at the beginning because the violence is sort of restricted to one panel each time it's not super clear where the bully come from or goes to. Other than that I think it really works. Love the breakneck pacing and all the little background jokes. It all comes together really well.

It's ultimately your comic and if you prefer to keep it to a bite sized slice of life kinda of 4-comic format, that's your choice! Unless you're looking to become a commercialized comic artist, I'm of the opinion you can write / draw whatever you want as long as you enjoy it. Are there things you can do to make it "better"? Probably! And it feels good to be "good" at something, but I think you have enough talent to go any direction you want with a reboot. We all learn as we go, so I wouldn't be too pressed about having it as perfect as possible from the get-go

Read your comic, blasted through it even. It's a really fun endeavor, I'm enjoying the gags and like some people said, even those that aren't hitting is mostly do to my personal taste, because they fit the world you are building really well.
Some of the jokes did land though, I was so unprepared for them.

When I read the bio, I'm mostly curious about that last bit about your world that isn't necessarily hinted at, which is why it feels like mostly a gag comedy affair. Depending on what you want, you could probably start teasing it right away, and let it slowly build up over time, just so we know it's there and it's creeping behind the characters as they live their daily lives. Waiting too long for it to show up might create a bit of a let down for the first dozen chapters, where the humour will have to do all the work to entertain the readers.

If teased now, the mystery, gloomy atmosphere and humour could elevate each other even further. I hope what I said makes sense, lol. Whatever you decide to do with your story, I'm really enjoying it and looking forward to what's next. Cheers!

I like it. The square panels and black and white coloring seem to fit the world you have built for your comic. It’s cute, but it also has a kind of creepy foreboding vibe that has me looking forward to the next episode.
It seems to be similar to other comedy comics I’ve seen on here, but it’s also different, particularly due to the mysterious feel created by the coloration, but also because I can see there’s some sort of continuous plot coming up and that throws a little bit of tension in there.
Anyway, I’m not really good at this whole feedback thing but I hope this is somewhat helpful.

I'm still on Episode 9 but I really like it so far. The dialog is light and fun and the little fantasy pets are really cute. The only thing that's tripping me up so far is that there's a lot of characters introduced at once and I'm having some trouble telling them apart. But I'm sure I'll get more familiar with them as I read. I really like the fantasy setting, it's really interesting.

I'm happy you enjoyed it! : ) I watched the documentary of that place (Class Action Park) right before writing that. I wanted to make a joke about bullies starting a fight, then immediately cutting to them being defeated. I could've conveyed that better.
