Did anyone's comic characters also start off as a fan oc?

Fun fact: the villain of my comic was originally a bnha oc

I'm not that into the show anymore because my tastes changed but I used to have a lot of fun making ocs for the show and collabing with other people!

His quirk was literally being a mosquito- he was able to gain strength through drinking blood. He had beef with every character in the damn show. I mean everyone. The whole cult concept behind him was because he was supposed to have his own villain organisation that could collect blood for him (like his own little minions)

Honestly, those times were great. I ended up finding his whole cult quite interesting, so I decided to create an original story out of it that went in a very dark horror direction. So yeah, that's how this lanky man came to be.

At first I thought no, but then I remembered that since my comic is based off my old childhood stories all my OCs technically came from this Alice in Wonderland x Power Rangers universe and I can't live with this realization

I almost forgot about this because all I cared about were those talking flowers and giving them armor.
I still really like flowers.

Well… I‘m doing a multi-crossover with my oldest OC that used to be a self-insert in the beginning, so it basically explains itself xD

While the original idea stayed, having a thrilling adventure while meeting really cool characters from different worlds, I can barely call her a self-insert nowadays. That title now goes towards a character that won‘t even appear for a very long time.

Else, there are still other „fan-based“ characters I have, like Troy or one that has only been teased in the first 2 episodes, which are very much self-explainatory lmao

Honestly, I never made a fan OC. If anything, it might be similar character traits from the previous BIG 3 Shounen Series but that's just it and that was from a very old comic I made when I was a Teenage nerd and I never publish nor update it on any website or media.

Compare to before and now, just remembering it makes me feel cringe.

Years ago, back in 99-2000 I originally created my current comic main character as a Sonic oc. I feel old and cringey just thinking about it.

Not sure if this counts but Nick Rowler was a character from a dumb Naruto fanfic I wrote. The character was never meant to be a self insert, I just thought up a random name and that is what popped into my head. I just liked the name so much that I started uses it other places and eventually turned into a username I used.

Another one that I guess somewhat counts...So my comic Crow's Worth was sort of based off a parody I wrote as a teen for Naruto but overtime it sort of became its own thing. However, some of the characters don't really have a Naruto parallel. Crow (who is Kakashi) is seen with a sister. The reason why was when I first started getting into Naruto, I thought Kakashi had an older sister, he does not. So I guess that is sort of an inside joke.

OHHH YOU'RE CHARACTER'S A MY HERO OC?!?

Quincy is supposed to be an OC of silver age DC. I guess you can say he's inspired? But I did want him to join DC when I was younger (Spawn situation). He's literally an amalgamation of Steve Ditko's old characters. For example; Spider-Man (athleticism), The Creeper (the laugh), Hawk (politics and color), Blue Beetle (mouth), Fancy Dan (size). Oh yeah also Hal Jordan (bit of a spoiler).

He also laughs like Mister Mind, my favorite DC villain.

My main OC was inspired by multiple shows/games that I love. Though initially he was supposed to be a furry, a werewolf-esque character. But I didn't know how to draw animals at the time so I went with anime inspired character, that was 8 years ago btw. It was a different time for me. lmao

Edit: Almost became a furry because people were nice to me in the furry community. Everyone I knew before were really nice. xD
