Well my day is only just starting, but I wrote my To-do list last night so I'm going to do my best to stick with it.
@liann A healthy drawing habit takes a long time (at least 40 or so consecutive days for it to take hold), and in the end it's just about creating something everyday ^^. When I first started to learn to draw it was just to draw and nothing else.
It is true that you can only get better next time, so best to give yourself that opportunity. You might not notice your work improving, but so long as you're consistent and mindful, it will.
Fast forward 16 years from when I started, and I just didn't stop. I draw nearly every day.
Some days are better than others. I'll draw 6-8 hours today but probably less than an hour over the weekend.
Nowadays my motivation is fueled by knowing some people are counting on me to complete artwork, commission clients and webcomic teams, as well as myself for the comics I want to bring to life.
Sometimes to feel productive when I'm at my lowest is just to do the bare minimum. Because that is a non-zero day. And those feel a lot better than zero days.
"Your Best" varies day to day. Some days my best is to take a proper rest from drawing altogether. And that's good too.
What's important is to be self-aware and mindful of what you know you need and not what you think you need.
