Hey there! Perhaps I shouldn't decide upon the numbers solely, and maybe it's too early for me to ponder. But I have a question anyway - how much do the audience preferences and expectations differ on Tapas and Webtoon? Is Tapas a better place for creators who are not able to produce long eps once or twice a week?

I've noticed that Tapas gives me more subs, despite the number of views being approximately the same here and on Webtoon. I am aware that Webtoon has... standarts for creators, the standarts I am not able to achieve yet. Seems like it`s really hard to mantain Canvas audience interest.

well wt has more people so there are more people there but I honestly prefer tapas because I have a small but engaged audience. I mean I also do on wt. Also uploading here is less stressful bc I don't have to convert my pages and I like the forums hehe

I think that yes, webtoon audience tends to expect long scrolls slightly more than tapas, where single page per update and even black and white comics tend to do better (still long scroll fully coloured comics are the preferred format and what both platforms encourage)
I also feel like webtoon audience skews slightly younger than tapas...

Most of my Views are on Comic Fury because its the 14+ uncensored. Most my subs are on Webtoon (censored), Tapas (censored) is the less engaged one for me.
But could be due to its an action and manga layout style. So its not a comic strip vertical.
It is in full colour though.

Engaged audience is the best audience! I`m converting my pages for Tapas as well, but seems like single page uploads are indeed more common here.

I think Webtoons has way more audience considering its main focus is romance, BL, and slice of life.

Does it still have a problem of having no notification bell?

Right you are, and I keep forgetting to take the age into consideration. I prefer to promote on Reddit sub, which seems to have older readers (maybe I`m wrong). Doesn't really work for me yet, but again - long scroll is not something I can afford right now.

Yeah, I feel like on reddit you're more likely to find slightly older, more desktop based folks, while webtoon readers would be more mobile only, more instagram/tiktok crowd - just the general vibe I get

and for longer updates for webtoon, you could try stacking multiple of your regular uploads together and just post less often there (or even put webtoon release on hold until you build up big enough buffer)

You know, it's interesting. I started posting on Webtoon because I was told there's a bigger audience over there... but I actually get more views on Tapas. :stuck_out_tongue:

My general understanding is that Webtoon's audience has a higher standard of quality, and aren't as likely to check out smaller comics. But that might be because Tapas has a more creator-focused community. (And website, Webtoon's layout is SO bad lol)

My experience

But then again, I've been here longer...

I've never been on Webtoons, but if I were to transition there, I would get less or no views on my novel. I see Webtoons as a more professional platform than Tapas; whereas in Tapas, it is more Indie friendly.

How do I know Tapas is indie friendly? I don't, but I sure do get views!

I can’t even access Webtoons on my ipad heh 🥲:+1: but from what I’m hearing I wouldn’t get much out of it anyway.

I was thinking about giving myself more time to create longer eps, but I already upload once or twice a month. It would probably take me 60 days to upload a 25 panel episode. That`s what I call a lifelong project.
