imo, yes. from a tactics standpoint, whenever you have the opportunity to start a new series, do it, because new series have far better chances getting up into trending and popular - especially if its a new series gaining subscribers rapidly from the previous series. the fresh start feels nice and clean, and is less intimidating to new readers.
also imo, its a good idea to make a sequel such that new readers can follow without reading the original. that doesnt mean making the original redundant, of course, but throwing in enough callbacks for the story to make sense, without quashing the curiosity to read the original. jkr was pretty good at this with harry potter.
