Do you feel intimidated by large comics?

So I've been mirroring my comic POW! Right in the Nostalgia here on Tapastic from Comic Fury...

Anyway, it's been going on Comic Fury since September 2014, so it's become quite large at almost 570 pages. I'm almost done completely mirroring it here on Tapastic, but have to wonder if maybe I should have posted pages slowly on here rather than posting in large chunks at a time.
Someone told me that maybe I should have done, like a comic a day posting or something to help attract readers and stuff, but I figured if I did that, it would take almost two years to catch up to my Comic Fury site, and by then my Comic Fury site would be even further ahead.

So this all comes down to me asking everyone here...

As readers, does it intimidate you to try and read a huge comic?
Do you avoid reading a comic if you see it's huge?

I actually like finding ones with lots of pages. I enjoy watching the story develop and don't have to worry about running out of pages to read.

I'm with ryoko and enjoy it when a good comic has lots of pages to burn through. I do wonder the same question sometimes, though - if a long archive is intimidating and if there are ways to make it less so. Chapter Summaries? But could be spoilerly. Suggesting "jump in at chapter 7, that's where it gets good"? But that could be confusing and dismisses the beginning.
shrugs I like reading things in chunks, especially story-based comics, so I'm sure there are plenty of other readers who would see a long comic as a good thing. I would think that it would also suggest stability - i.e. that you have made so many pages, you are less likely to suddenly drop the project for something new.

I was always wondering if Tapastic had ways to split things up into chapters. I know on Comic Fury you can do that.

I don't really mind large comics. Though I won't be able to read it up to latest in one-sitting. I actually wait for the pages to pile up before getting back to it.

I don't mind comics with a lot of episodes, as long as each episode isn't more than 5 pages. If it's more than that I have to really like the series to keep on reading.

Like you see a comic with 100 episodes, but each ep is a page or two. That's a-ok, I'll read those 200 pages just fine, it's even easier that Tap remember which episode I left off at if I don't finish in one sitting.

But then say there's one that's 100 eps, and each ep has 10 pages, that's 1000 pages right there. For this I'd be more likely to read one episode every other day or something if it even holds my interest.

I actually prefer large/long comic rather than short one. But more than anything, I tend to get more committed to a finished series. When I look for something new to read be it comic or novel, I prefer one with over 100 chapters or so than a shorter one with 10 or 11 chapters. I like the connection I form with the characters and the plot and I never want the journey to end that early!

There's a lot of people who like to binge read large amounts of pages in one sitting. I noticed that especially with my comic that has 70+ pages, some take a whole day, some just less than an hour to get through it, but they do in one go. I also saw in some forum posts before, that if a comic updates daily (or a couple pages a week), they will wait for the pages to pile up, before reading them at once.
So I think you're pretty fine with uploading everything in a short amount of time. And I think people won't try to pressure you to upload new pages faster, especially when the chapter stops right before/or in the middle of something interesting.

To answer your questions, as for me, when I get interested in a comic, it's always great to see if there are a lot of pages to go through. If I get tired reading, I'll always come back the next day to continue where I left.
I will only avoid a comic when it has a lot of pages - but the story isn't going anywhere, or it's so confusing that I'll get lost somewhere and have to re-read it again from the start. Then I'll pretty much drop it.

Well I see a lot of people here prefere large comic, I don't because I am unable to do it in one read, I have to pause and come back later, so I like to know where I left of ^^. And also big comic scare me a bit, I am not a great reader, so I can easely be scared of long text to read.
As for the reader ship, your will gain more readers with publishing regularly especially daily.
Maybe an inbetween could work. Like maybe post every day multiple pages (or parts) until you catch up, and then post at the same rate as your other website

yeah, long comics intimidate me a little both in the print world and webcomics - but if i actually like a comic, ill persevere on with it no matter how long it takes me to catch up. it also gives your more diligent readers who arent as convinced about your comic the chance to change their mind - ive read longish comics to review before. i started out really not thinking much of them, but by the time i finished, i was dead set on subscribing.

I really like long comics!! Especially if I'm into the story (I remember being genuinely sad that I only had 80 pages left one one??)

No, I've always gotten more enjoyment from long and epic comics that last over several arcs and all that. And I love the feeling when you find a new comic and get really into it, and you just know you have so many more volumes and chapters to look forward too.

However, it can be intimidating as well. Despite many recommendations for it, I'll never read One Piece because of it's length. And longer comics have a tendency to drag on or have parts that are tedious, I never finished Death Note because instead of ending the plot on a fitting end, it wen't on longer and got uninteresting.

I dont mind large comics, coz I'm always looking for stuff to read. As long as it's something that I like, I have no issue with it being a huge series- just means I wont run out of comic to read for a while.

I really enjoy long form comics with epic story and interesting characters. But to be honest I only scan tapastic for interesting reads and if something catches my attention I rather prefer a printed version than to read it all online. I feel more captivated if I have a book in my hands. I don't know why but reading stuff on my phone or PC doesn't feel as epic and I loose interest really fast (maybe because I get distracted by a message, by something I want to google or who knows what else)

I look forward to long comics as that means there is a lot of story to read. Tapastic saving your place makes this much easier to do than reading on someone's site. I enjoy being able to read through an arc and binge reading when things get good. I think it really is similar to people watching stuff on Netflix as opposed to regular TV.

I generally don't come back to Tapastic every day to read comics, instead I wait for things to build up for a bit then read in a large sitting. I enjoy the stories better that way.

As long the comic series updates like a couple of pages at a time it should be cool. Reading in a huge batch for me can get bit tiring if I don't have some sort of check point if that makes sense? sometimes I don't read fully through the chapter right away so having those couple pages per update helps!( Especially for Chapters that are really long)

I love getting long comics. In fact when I find a comic that I like that is younger and shorter I almost always subscribe and just wait a few weeks/months for a few chapters to be completed rather than reading through immediately, and if I catch up a wait again.

I think it just depends on how you like to consume. If you prefer reading full chapters at a time then you'll gladly get into a comic where you can do that right off the bat.
