Do you like clingy teen romance or decent, slow adult romance?

Depends on how they're both done. A first-love teen romance can be cute, but a lot paint their teenage pairings as their forever partners which I don't always agree with. "Adult" romances are a broad category if you class YA/NA in that same category. Adult romances aren't always that good when you consider how many toxic tropes those stories generally have.

So, I'd prefer a good romance.

I'm in my 30s so I might be a little bias, but no, I do not like most teen romances.

I think young romance stories can work. Kids/teens have dumb crushes. I tend to like when they are also best friends.

I think the reason why I dislike more teen romance is they get into the weird side of dating. It's really annoying to see two girls fight over some bland guy or the "nice guy" creeping on some girl in his math class. It makes it feel like relationships are a competition, status symbol, or some prize to be won, instead of two people who actually love and care for each other.

As long as they act in a realistic manner, either can be fun. I write a romance of young 20 year olds, so I want them to act like people act as 20 year olds.

I'm not too fond of teen romance. I'm a little jaded about that kinda stuff because Texas has the TRASHIEST schools in the United States. I just see teens copying what they see on TV and it's the saddest thing ever. So for me there's no debate there. I'm fine if a character has a crush with another character or if it's a cautionary tale, but other than that... nah. Not a fan. (I'd go as far as saying stuff like Sex Education and Euphoria is made by creeps).

As for romance films for adults, you can get away with a lot of stuff there so obviously lmao?

I mean instead of clingy teenage romance you can have cute puppy love or whatever you want to call.
That said I often prefer adult romances, in part, simply because there is a lot more teenage romance in anime, manga, and light novels.

I used to like clingy teen but I have "grown up" if you wsnt to put it that way. I can't identify with a teen anymore. So I prefer a slow romance. I still like teen romance from time to time but not as much as when I was younger.

Have I answered this thread yet? I don't think I did so... Slow burn adult romance all the way. I always very much loved the slow getting to know each other, being interested in one another and slowly connecting over time, the more I can appreciate the fully matured relationship because I witnessed the relationship really happen over time. That's how I do approach my own story as well.

Teenie love is a different genre for me lol First relationship, first kiss and so on. I might be a little bit old for this one now. Since teenie years I have read so many mangas where outta no where people were hooking up with no apparent reason and it really made me feel like a very rushed and shallow thing, but there is always going to be a fanbase for both of those

This was 10+ years ago when I knew these girls so I don't know how common it is anymore. In my community a lot of guys are refusing to date because they don't want to be labeled as "creepy" or are too scared of a woman just living her best life to ask her out on a date.

But overall, I do think the media has a big play in those super young marriages (I know if makes me sound old too) YA/NA romances paint kids in these serious relationships and one of the biggest "steps" a couple can take to show their devotion and fix their relationship issues in the media is marriage.

Interesting, I never heard of that among the guys in my generation, and the younger folks (Gen Z) so it's probably a cultural thing (I'm not American or European like most folks here)

I live in a country where most families (even the deeply religious ones) don't care much, if at all, about kids outside of marriage, but you could be onto something in most other countries, including the person I quoted before.

"keeping face" sounds to me like an alien concept that I only see in kdramas lmao.
