Do you sniff your markers?

I’m just curious if it’s an artist thing or if it’s weird. I know it’s random but it’s just a genuine question. We all knew those sharpie sniffers in elementary school, so are you still one of those?

.... I work with alcohol-based markers (Copic, Prismacolor) almost daily. I'm so used to the smell I'm not sure it even registers anymore.

Scented markers are a thing that exists. I work with scented colored pencils a lot. Our scanner is on the fritz tough, so none of that...

There are certain things that one as an artist like (Not necessarily everyone but I've seen several artists enjoying these)

• The smell of markers
• The smell of turpentine
• A freshly painted wall, dang that smell is good
• The smell of Liquid paper too

Scented markers were rich kid stuff in my schools. Never developed a taste, for better or worse.

I try not to smell them too much because there is such thing as inhalant abuse which can lead to permanent brain damage. It's OK to use Sharpies and other chemical based media for your art, just make sure you are in a well ventilated area and don't shove the markers straight up your nose.

If you are someone who likes to stim through smells, their are safer ways to do so.

I used to. Not anymore. Getting high with chemicals only makes things worse. I don't need drugs to get "high"

Honestly, who doesn't? I like the smell, kind of like how I enjoy the smell of gasoline. It's a natural human curiosity. I certainly don't try to get messed up on it though--You ever cleaned a closet with bleach and got high on the fumes? Don't get high on chemicals, yo.

I've never really liked the smell of markers that much myself.

....now silver Citadel Miniatures paint on the other hand (Mithril silver from the old range and Stormhost Silver in the new range), that's another matter. There's a smell that gives me serious nostalgia whenever I open up a pot of the stuff.

I try not to sniff smelly art things too closely though, even when it smells nice, 'cause yeah... probably not a good idea.
