Plus posting ai generated works on tapas is against the site's rules

If I was given the choice between either Rob Liefeld or an AI as my co-artist, i’d go with rob liefeld. I’d probably have to spend thousands of hours giving the female characters actual waistlines, making their butts anatomically correct, and making their spines straight, but i’d rather do that then have a machine draw for me.

If you don't like drawing, and would rather find ways to avoid drawing, don't make comics. You wouldn't ask a professional dancer if they'd rather get a robot to dance for them. Of course they wouldn't! Because they love to dance, even when it's hard and takes hours and hours of practice! I don't just like being a person who's made a comic and seeing people read and react to it, and selling it, I actually love the process of making the comic, and expressing myself through the lines, showing off my skills. I don't understand how anyone would think comics were a good medium for them if they didn't.

THANK YOU. I'm not a professional illustrator, but I didn't get my decades of drawing experience by accident. I'm proud of those skills, and I value and enjoy the hard work that got me where I am.

No, I've never used AI in my work. Partly because I can't -- I'm doing everything by traditional, on paper-- but mostly because I don't want to, AND because I object to it on principle.

AI image generators might spit out the occasional pretty illustration, but it won’t produce anything sequential for you, or have any consistency (yet anyways ).

Some says it will be a powerful tool in the future but i have this strange artist's pride of creating artworks and comics using my own hand (well you also use your hand to type prompt on AI but you know what i mean).
I think AI will make artist skip important step in their creative process and it will cause bad impact on artist's personal growth, both skill and mental wise.

Joyous feeling of finally able to draw something using your own knowledge also incomparable and it's something AI can not give.

There probably will be AI tools which comic artists will use, especially the ones who are working
in the industry. I can imagine a lot but some I can imagine are background AI programs.
Something like the app mangaka connected with AI, mangaka already has a random generator
for city backgrounds.

Photoshop has a texture generator that will make a random cloud or noise effect. Clip Studio was a similar feature called Perlin Noise. That is probably the only type of AI generated images you can use.

Any software that makes a new image from other images is not allowed. This includes stuff like the AI anime filter, because it uses a similar process.

There are free to use 3D models for comic artists if that is what you are struggling with. Some people trace over them so that the style will be consistent.

that's not ai, that's simple randomisation
machine learning - what all the generators use, is about a program "figuring out" a method to reaching a desired result by trial and error, the desired result in case of image generators is an image that a control group would say looks close enough to images in its database
and before any image generator defender comes, it is different to how a human artist learns - human understands what and why they're doing something, it's a difference of for example using a bunch of stones to write a word by putting them on the ground vs randomly throwing them to the ground - just with computer measuring the angle and strength on the throw so that if it does by accident spell out a word, it can do it again

I do think there will be a point where people may be forced to adapt to it in the professional world though. I have a feeling the indie space is going to be flooded with creators.

Computer randomization textures like Perlin noise is a form of AI. The texture is not being hand-drawn by a person, it's being created by a code from input prompts. It's not a very advance form of AI like that used with ML.

I think a lot of buzzwords within Web3 was morphed some understanding of what AI is. I get that when people say AI now, they no longer mean what AI usually represents in computer science. Like NPCs in video games might be AI but people usually don't call them that.

It sucks though, it´s completely useless
