A few grapevines around the web inform us that anime producers are scouring comic hosting sites such as Tapas, Webtoons, etc., in the hopes of coming across the next big thing. The market is becoming wider too. Crunchyroll is featuring a slate of new anime through Webtoons, and Netflix is also on board with its original shows, and it's only a matter of time until other companies see this goldmine and jump on. Your chances of seeing your creation animated are certainly much better now.

Would that be your Utopia, or would you say "No, thank you. I will stick to the comic."?

(Remembering that choosing anime can lead to a ton of hardships and heartache... ) :frowning:

I would be extremely happy to have my comic adapted into an anime.

Same goes for my novel.

Yeah, I'd be super-hype for it. Though I think they'd be more likely to pick something with a bigger readership than mine. :sweat_02:

Seems like there are going to be a LOT more avenues for it soon. We no longer have to live in Japan. Not to say it wouldn't be awesome to live there, of course.

Ironically, I rebooted my comic as a visual novel series because I figured it was the closest thing to an anime I would ever get, then all of a sudden they're making a bunch of webcomics into anime :joy: That's just my luck.

Anyway yes, anime please.

Do I think it will ever happen? Absolutely not

But do I think it's a cool idea? Hell yeah

Given all of the fake AMVs that I imagine with my OCs when I listen to music, I think a part of me would love to see my work animated lol

Although if it did happen it'd be super nerve-wracking though. Having to work with a studio, dealing with people wanting to make changes to the story, potentially losing rights, etc... Sounds like it could lead to a lot of issues! I don't think I would realistically want to deal with all of that.

Yeah, we're late to the party too. lol

Still need to dig into visual novels a bit, it's still puzzling. Would be awesome to try that, but everyone likes to pint out they seem like "choose your adventure" stuff, right?

Exactly. Those drawbacks can be discouraging. I think we'd pass because there's no way an original stays intact. This is speaking for two accomplished writers who have had to deal with agents and publishers a long time.

Fact: Your work is never your own after the check clears.

I would love to see the comic I'm working on in anime format but I would be worried about the drawbacks as well

Not all of them are like that; there's a subgenre called "kinetic novels" that have linear storylines and very minimal gameplay elements. That's what I'm doing, since I wasn't about to write in a bunch of choices and branching paths for a story that's already too long 🤣 It's actually been surprisingly easy to learn since I'm still tackling it a lot like a comic and not doing anything too advanced with the coding. (Here's the website10, if you want a look at what it is exactly.)

Um, YES

Even if the anime sucked (and a lot of anime adaptations are sub-par compared to the source material; it's not a rare thing), it would be great advertisement for my comic...which more people would probably want to read if they heard it was better than the anime. ^^

Besides, I just love animation~

I don't think there's really anyone who would turn away the opportunity to have their work animated. It's a lot more mainstream and has a broader appeal so your story would reach a lot more people. I'd say most creators here use comics as the medium to tell their story over animation since it's infeasible to animate it themselves, not because they don't want it.

Of course there are those who just prefer the comic format, but even then nothing's stopping you from continuing your comic as the anime airs (unless of course that's a stipulation in your contract).

Hmmmm! This requires some re-thinking and re-evaluation of visual novels. Thanks, very exciting medium, for sure. Will take a peek!

We're both big anime fans but lately...meh...nothing much sends us. And if we have to watch ONE MORE series about "so-and-so is stuck in a game called this-and-that"... UUUUUGH!!!! :rage::rage::rage:

Oh good I'm not the only one who imagines fake AMVs ahahaha. I come up with some of my best plot points and backstories with those...and then I forever associate that particular song with that scene/character.

Okay. You won us over already with the characters. This looks AMAZING.

Do I want my comic being made into a anime? Hell yeah.

Do I think it will ever happen? Hell no.

And right there is why a lot of people might turn down the offer. The C-word.

Do you have this available on Tapas, Hazu? I'm having trouble finding you. lol
